President Trump told Republicans that Energy Secretary Rick Perry encouraged him to have the phone call with Ukraine's president that flung his presidency into chaos.
During a conference call with GOP lawmakers in the House on Friday, Trump claimed he did not even want to have the July 25 conversation in which he urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to investigate his political rivals. Bummer. Perry turned out to be another Bush league disappointment.

What politically-written garbage. The author deliberately implies that Trump had bad intentions. He does not mention that Zelensky brought up the topic.
What was Trump supposed to do at that point? Insult Zelensky by ignoring the topic? Belittle Zelensky by acting as if the topic were of no concern?
Trump was being gracious in following Zelenskys lead. The conversation was nothing more than that, and any true journalist would recognize that fact.
