Florida man takes apart clothes dryer, finds stuck snake

Oct. 2 (UPI) -- A Florida man who took apart his clothes dryer when it stopped working made a shocking discovery in the lint exhaust -- a snake.

Bruce Wiley said the dryer at his Winter Park home stopped working, so he started taking it apart in an attempt to identify the cause of the malfunction.

Wiley said he felt something moving when he reached into the lint exhaust and took a closer look to find a trapped snake.

He said the snake, which appeared to have minor injuries, pulled itself free after a few minutes and slithered out of his home through the open exhaust vent.

Wiley said he found the flap on the vent exhaust outside his home stuck open, giving the snake its apparent entry spot.

Black snakes are good....they eat rattlers, copperheads and rodents.....

Add to that list....lint.

My second-floor dryer vent is about seven feet above ground and the flapper lid got stuck open. A chipmunk thought it was a nice place to get warm and got into the dryer hose and cut a hole in it. He was then between floors and I’d hear him chewing on pine cone nuts.

I rigged up a couple of coins on flap to make it heavy and propped it open with a toothpick. When the chipmunk left the dislodged toothpick let the flap shut tight and he couldn’t return. I fabricated and put a metal screen over the flap to prevent a re-occurrence.

I don’t know why I even clicked on the post. Now I’ve got to go get laundry out of the dryer. Great, just great.

That Florida Man...what does he NOT do?

It sure is amazing, and to think that he's nowhere near as busy as Area Man!

During a Florida winter, my dad went under the house to check for frozen pipes. In that dark environment, he saw a sizable shadow move. Two takeaways: Fastest egress ever from under a house; frozen pipes? what frozen pipes?

Especially in Central Fl - should not have neglected Coral Snakes in my previous list, a small very colorful cute snake but said to have a deadly bite.

My laundry days would be done because I would be dead from a heart attack. There is no such thing as a “good” snake.

I had to quickly scroll past the first pic in this thread because I can’t even tolerate looking at the horrid creatures.

Sorry, but I prefer rats to snakes.
