(CNN) -- A man in Florida has been sneaking around his neighborhood tampering with electric scooters parked on the streets, police say.
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department posted a surveillance video Tuesday showing 59-year-old Randall Williams walking up to an electrical scooter on the street, slapping a white sticker on its QR code, and cutting its brake lines, essentially rendering it impossible to use.
Police say that more than 140 scooters have been disabled and vandalized in a similar way in the southeast part of Fort Lauderdale since April 5.
Officers had already homed in on Williams as a possible suspect, and the majority of the acts of vandalism happened within two blocks of his apartment.

My guess would be he’d just watched a fifties’ film and TV retrospective. I remember the cut brake line being used as a tension builder quite often. Not so much after the split brake systems were introduced in 1968. Then it became all tits and car chases.
Crazy doesn’t need motivation.
I bet the guy got knocked over by a couple of those.
Since these incidents happened within blocks of his home, I assume he was irritated by them. People on those things will run you down. Still, no way to respond. I am willing to bet the guy is a Democrat.
Maybe motivated by more than 140 electric scooters in his neighborhood? Those things can be pesky, especially if users are inconsiderate or oblivious to their surroundings.
Except that he has apparently been doing this since early April so a spur of the moment decision this is not.
Dang, that’s weird.
I’m on my phone but I’m sure there is a photo of this somewhere.
I still don’t get how he thought he could get away with it after doing this over a period of months. Eventually surveillance cameras will catch you. Although in this case, cops were staked out in his neighborhood.
Don’t give people in Denver any ideas. There’s been a lot of brouhaha over scooters there.
Tired of tripping over them on the sidewalk? Tired of looking at the things cluttering up the streetscape?
Not that this makes what he did acceptable, to be sure.
Kids don’t need electric scooters. Use your damn foot like the old days. Spoiled little brats! //sarc off//
Editors are getting tired of "A Florida man..."?
Just trying to create "original content" for his Youtube channel.
“Then it became all tits and car chases.”
Whats wrong with that? ;-)
Is there anything Florida man can’t do?
Florida is the Florida of the United States.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
How about being ticked off that essentially people are being allowed to leave their junk anywhere they want, property value and neighborhood aesthetics be damned. These ugly green bikes are showing up on sidewalks around my office and it looks ridiculous and needs to be dealt with. If I just leave a series of expensive but ugly bikes around town in front of random homes should I expect them to remain there untouched? Maybe I'll just start setting up tables with yard sale type items all over town in front of whatever home I with an app to buy the items through your phone. I don't agree with cutting the brake lines but I definitely understand why he did it. I judge him completely innocent and order the plaintiff to pay all legal charges.
Only the best TV baddies disabled the emergency brake.
