Welcome to the Bicycle Thread. A monthly PING List for bicycle enthusiasts to share experiences, information and ideas.
Bicycle Race
Queen
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like
You say black, I say white
You say bark, I say bite
You say shark, I say hey man
Jaws was never my scene
And I don’t like Star Wars
You say Rolls, I say Royce
You say God give me a choice
You say Lord, I say Christ
I don’t believe in Peter Pan
Frankenstein or Superman
All I wanna do is
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, races are coming your way
So forget all your duties, oh yeah
Fat bottomed girls, they’ll be riding today
So look out for those beauties, oh yeah
On your marks, get set, go
Bicycle race, bicycle race, bicycle race
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
(I want a) bicycle race
You say coke, I say ‘caine
You say John, I say Wayne
Hot dog, I say cool it man
I don’t wanna be the President of America
You say smile, I say cheese
Cartier, I say please
Income tax, I say Jesus
I don’t wanna be a candidate
For Vietnam or Watergate
‘Cause all I want to do is
Bicycle, bicycle, bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle, bicycle (c’mon), bicycle
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride my bike
I want to ride my bicycle
I want to ride it where I like

I’m still trying to catch up on the Vuelta. Then it’s on to the Worlds.
Did my last ride of the season last weekend. Always a sad time ...
Ive been out of the game for six or seven years. Need to start shredding again.
With a budget of $1,500 - $2,000 Im wondering if I should refit my beloved Trek 850 frame or get a new bike. Or increase my budget?
I ride single track year around, not all that interested in a rear shock. I like light.
Any recommendations?
TY!
After the first dinner service, one guy announced a bicycle club meeting, which I thought was a bit weird for just the week.
Towards the end of the week, the same guy announced the end of the bicycle club meetings due to the lack of funds.
Turned out, he was talking about meetings that used this type of bicycle:
I hear you. Although my interest in cycling has dropped off this year in favor of kayaking, and the two make a good combination for both upper and lower body. Even though I’m a casual rider and increasinly prefer bike trails due to the idiots on the road.
I don’t mind that biking is a seasonal activity here as I switch to indoor hobbies and really like XC skiing.
Add me to the ping list, please. Maybe it will inspire me.
What kinds new technology are coming out from bikes in the next season or two?
This video is what the country roads look with bike riders in my area of Florida. (Except for the accident).
They are all over the road and do not move to the bike lane when a car is behind them. They ride 3 and 4 abreast.
I usually have to cross a double line to get around them and then they flip me off as I go by.
It is hard to respect them the way they act.
I usually do a long ride on Saturday with a bunch of local cyclist (usually 30-40 miles) on my beloved Trek Madone.
The group I ride with is very fast, so I struggle. But I am getting faster.
I use to ride 70-100 a week but started Crossfit a little over a month ago so my rides during the week have ended.
We have been selling off our collection of vintage tandem bicycles, but are keeping our 1938 Sun Tandem with 1938 Watsonian Sidecar. Every time we have displayed it with this picture of family of English refugees, older people from Britain especially have been very moved.
It has a three cog cassette that slides back and forth on the hub to shift gears using stationary derailleur. It is hard to find info on this shifting system which actually works very well. Most bicycle "historians" seem to believe that they derailleur started with Simplex in 1938 but this system predated that. Off the top of my hear I cannot remember the name, but will look at it when we get home.
