We are all ageing its a fundamental fact of life. But the majority of us are totally unprepared for what lies ahead.
Yes, we may have pensions in place and follow the basics of a healthy lifestyle but can you truly say that you have thought deeply about all aspects of your later life?
The good news is Im here to tell you that getting older doesnt have to mean it all goes downhill.
In fact, it can be the start of a whole new adventure if you are prepared for a major rethink about how you can make your later years some of your happiest.
The story of ageing has changed dramatically in the past decade because life expectancy has been increasing year on year at a fantastic rate.
Medical and public health advances, from sanitation to statins, all continue to extend our lives, and yet society and, indeed, we as individuals havent caught up with that change.
Respected medical journal The Lancet has, staggeringly, predicted more than half of British babies born in 2007 will live to the age of 103. Its entirely possible that many of todays 50-year-olds will only be halfway through their lives.

Since I only have one leg I’m used to it.
Old age isn’t for sissies.
Medical and public health advances, from sanitation to statins, all continue to extend our lives,
But how many of these advances, depended upon the use of evil fossil fuels, and the actions of evil pharmaceutical companies??? If the liberals get their way, some of the advances may well disappear.
With any luck, AI robots will be delivering nursing care by the time I need it.
Better a robot than a nurse’s aid who graduated from a Math and Science academy.
HUGE difference.
Never heard of that, are you enjoying it?
We are all f’d. No one is getting out of this deal alive. Death is a certainty. Most likely slow and agonizing. Ya’ll have a great Saturday night.
Orange Theory,,?
I’m 65 in January.
Tell Us More!
“Better a robot than a nurses aid who graduated from a Math and Science academy.”
Zimbabwe Math and Science Academy.
I would never have thought I could do any of it, but I can! Started out completely inept but the whole program is positive and inspirational, so I have been able to do more and more. Feel amazing.
The "theory" has to do with heart rate - you wear a watchlike monitor that tracks your heart rate, and as you move through the hour on rower/treadmill/"floor" (weights/bench) the color-coded TV screen shows what everyone in the class is experiencing - you can watch yourself going from gray (resting) to blue (very light exercise) to green (starting to move!) to orange (sweat!) and even to red (you are WORKING IT) - the THEORY is that if you spend 14 minutes in the orange zone, you burn calories for 48 hours afterwards. It works for me!
It moves so fast and the music is so energizing (although NOT my style LOL) it almost feels like you're at a nightclub getting your groove on. The coaches are fantastic. I have NEVER enjoyed exercise in my life, and I am addicted to this.
Haha, I like it.
I thought getting old would take longer.
L
Didn’t seem possible, truth be told.
Old people seemed to be made different.
