The fake-meat craze appears to be here to stay, and rivals Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat (BYND) have been going head-to-head to claim dominance in the space.
The jury is still out on which burger tastes better, but when it comes to nutrition, which one is the healthier option?

When they asked me if I want an “Impossible Whopper” I said “I don’t want that fake meat! Make me one of those almost-real meat Whoppers!”
Dead animal meat.
I don’t want either one.
Tried the “whopper”.. tasted like a burned burger.
WTF is wrong with real meat?
That nutritional analysis provided me with no answers.
What kinds of fat? Americans eat about 20 times as much omega-6 as they should, and nowhere nears as much omega-3. Grass fed beef is high in omega-3, grain-fed beef is not. The fats in peas and soy is high in omega-6.
Do these contain complete proteins? A balanced mix of all of the essential amino acids? Beef does, peas and soy do not.
How about the micronutrients? What is the B-12 level? How about K-2? Both are missing from peas and soy. Both are essential. (Actually, K-2 is missing from grain-fed beef, as well.)
Given the K-2 experience - where we changed our agricultural practices to essentially eliminate it from the diet, and only decades later realized that doing so had significant negative consequences on health (K-2 is critical to keeping calcium out of coronary arteries), I think we should all be quite hesitant to assume we understand just what we’re doing.
Frankenfoods.
IMHO, this meatless burger will fail miserably.
“IMHO, this meatless burger will fail miserably.”
Just another opportunity to short Burger King and McDonalds stock.
Let me just say, I may hold the FR record for the number of fast food lunches consumed regularly.
For real. At very least honorable mention.
But for some reason, this is interesting to me.
:)
There are many foods that I love,as evidenced by my waistline!
Fruits...nuts...grains...vegetables...and meat.I love them all.Talk to any dentist and he/she will tell you that human beings are designed to be omnivores, like I am I guess.
Meatless burgers? Sorry, not in *this* lifetime!
White Castle
Take your imperialistic vegiphobia elsewhere, you unworthy person!
White Castle is now selling The Impossible Slider, a vegetarian burger, nationwide
That is the title of a Detroit Free Press article, from 2 weeks ago, I think.
:)
Excellent post
