EXCLUSIVE: 'I've done enough time in this business.' Empire star Terrence Howard says he looks forward to the end of the hit show - as he likens his job to soldiers with PTSD and calls for actors to have better access to mental healthcare

This guy is just too much. Can't stand him

Glad smollett debacle killed the whole thing off

I do agree Hollywood needs more mental health care. We all know that.

“and calls for actors to have better access to mental healthcare”

Sorry, but actors have all the access to mental healthcare they wish to purchase, just like anyone else. Why should they get a special government actors mental healthcare fund? Just because they chose a career that has them cycling back and forth between employed and unemployed? Since that is their choice, is anyone else to blame? No!!!

I have known a few people who acted, mostly in minor, local productions. Some actors find it easy to leave a character and move on to the next script, while other lose a little bit of themselves on each separate portrayal.

When you are in character, a tiny bit of your mind has to embrace the role, swallow it whole. There must be a sort of suspension of disbelief for a while. Some were never all that grounded to begin with, so, there isn’t much to compartmentalize.

Bottom line, yes, if actors could get mental counseling without thinking no one will offer them any more roles, then yes, they should have access to that counsel.
Many pro athletes have similar struggles, that they feel must remain hidden. Even if the age of Social Media overshare.

IIRC, he was going to be part of the Iron Man franchise, but his head got too big so they gave the part to Don CHeadle for Iron Man II and beyond.
