MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) As soon as an 87-year-old Bradenton woman is released from a medical center, she will be handcuffed and charged with murder. Police say she killed her disabled grandson.
On Sunday, Bradenton police were called to the apartment of 87-year-old Lillian Parks. Inside they found her 30-year-old grandson, Joel Parks, dead.
Joel was disabled, and Lillian confessed she gave him a drug overdose to kill him, because she feared after she died, no one would be able to care for him.
This is a process where it was thought out, planned and she took a human life, said Bradenton Police Captain Brian Thiers.
Police tell 8 On Your Side Joels sister visited the home and made the discovery.
BPD says Joels father died and Joels mother was estranged from the family.
8 On Your Side has learned Joel lived in a group home during the week and would spend weekends with his grandmother.

And the left wants to legalize euthanasia.
So why are they charging her?
Home made euthanasia, isn’t it?
In England, this would have been would have been OK.

And this differs from abortion...how?
The Left has things SO mixed up, now! All by design, of course!
Whenever I watch a Murder Mystery now, I’m amazed that anyone is convicted of ANYTHING - we’re all just late-term abortions waiting for someone to snuff us out. :(
This is a really sad story.
Sadly, it would have been O.K. here in Canada too (although, a “medical Doctor” would have had to been used to administer the lethal drugs).
On a side note MAID (Medical Assistance In Dying, as it’s called here) is supposed to be humane and compassionate. I wonder why the cocktail of drugs they use for MAID isn’t used to to execute convicted murderers — what with them being so humane and all. Don’t murderers deserve our compassion?
Murder is so archaic.
Wonder if the vic’s sister tried to get any help and/or counselling for the perp...
If granny had any assets, I’d be giving the vic’s sister a hard look to determine whether or not she gave granny the idea/impetus...
as horrible as this is I understand her reasoning. There is no place and no one to advocate for this helpless being. There are thousands of situations like this across the country.
Great point. This man, Joel, had a sister to look after him part time as he was in a group home during the week. His Grand”mother” is sick.
