I have a handgun I'd like to sell to get a different model. Since so many websites are anti-gun (e.g.: Craigslist) what other options are there?
I'm not a dealer, so Gun Broker isn't the best option with fees, FFL to FFL transfers plus I have approximately 1,000 rounds I'd like to sell as well.
Thought about flea markets but not sure I can just walk into one and sell or trade. My goal is to stay in state to avoid the FFL to FFL transfers but want to do it legally.
What are my options or what am I missing?
Thank you.
“Go to your local gun shop. Most will do a trade, swap, sell and trade, etc.”
The few times I’ve tried to make a trade with a gunstore they only offered wholesale price on my trade while wanting full retail on their item. If you go this route you will likely be ripped off.
I haven’t taken a Ruger .380 apart but most of those pocket guns use a striker.
There are a few which use a hidden hammer.
You can mail a handgun through the mail. Conditions:
1. Do not use USPS, not worth the trouble, use FedEx, I’ve done it many times, must be actual FedEx facility and not a “store” where FedEx picks up; check their website or call local FedEx on phone for more info.
2. Must get buyer to get his FFL to mail you a copy of the FFL license, that is the only address you can legally mail it to. Check license is current.
3. Get paid buy USPS money order, best way to cover you both in case of lost/claims. Decide who pays shipping and insurance. Figure shipping cost before you finish the deal so no surprises.
4. Mail after you cash money order.
I’ve sold lots on Gunbroker this way. Armslist is great, too... no shipping. Get the procedures right for you state. First time is the hardest. Meet in a busy place.
Ha!!....We are good, my FRiend.
Why the LOL?
Why the “LOL”?
Theyll never tell you. We all know that Feds can lie to you but you cant lie to them.
This is a big problem. The feds have hired dweeby leftist little trolls to get people to make suspicious comments that result in investigations.
A lot like China and a means of advancing self censorship.
These fed agencies really have to be radically reigned in. They are rotten from top to bottom.
I found your post funny...........
It’s up to the op to check his own laws.
Ho Boy,
So Much Info!
Sorry for the double post. Glad I could make you laugh. You would be great at parties!
No sweat about the 2 posts....
Sell a gun?
Hmm.
Never thought of that.
Do you have any gun safes for sale? I need more for my knitting needles and such.
There are a number of websites geared to gun owners in a specific state, and those websites often have a “For sale” section that permits advertising firearm sales. However, they often have requirements for length of membership and/or number of posts, so there are no “drive-by” sales.
Two strangers with guns and cash meeting up to negotiate a business deal can be dodgy business. A public meeting place and daylight goes without saying. Choose a parking lot covered by security cameras. And use your smartphone to keep things on the up-and-up.
Before you meet tell your buyer how it will go down so everyone knows the drill. Tell him where to meet you (arrive early) and that he should park end-to-end with your car but across the aisle from you. That way there will be some distance between your cars but each will be able to see the other’s license plates. If you’re in a state with no front license plate, the cars will need to be parked butt-to-butt.
When his car arrives, take a photo (with your smartphone) capturing his license plate. Then get out of the car and stand by the bumper of the end of your car facing his. Then he should follow suit. Then you both take photos of each other standing next to your respective cars and send them in a text message to someone who you’ve warned ahead of time what you’ll be up to.
Now you both have confederates who are not at the scene but who have information that the other can be identified from, which minimizes the chances of any monkey business. Now you may approach and conduct business.
If he approaches before you’ve got your photos sent, ask him to stop and wait a moment. If he fails to comply, get back in your car, lock the door and drive away.
People walk around advertising their wares?
See if your local shooting range would be interested in buying it, esp. if they rent guns.
