It seems like one of these stories comes across our collective news feeds every few months.
A restaurant or a nightclub posts a dress code somewhere on the premises. Someone spots the dress code and takes a picture of it, then posts it to Twitter or Facebook and talks about how racist it is.
An extreme outpouring of conspicuous wokeness ensues. The establishment either apologizes or says sorry not sorry.
The answer doesnt really matter since the wokeness will just be ratcheted up. If the answer is sorry, sorry isnt good enough. If they dont say sorry, well, they should have!
And this goes on until the whole thing ends up in the news.
This latest case is special because the restaurant in question has barely even opened yet and its pretty much getting canceled online.
The Choptank, a Baltimore eatery, opened to the public just this week, according to its Twitter feed.
However, a sign noting that its dress code proscribes excessively baggy clothing, athletic attire, jerseys, brimless headgear and backwards or sideways hats has already gone viral, and not in a good way.
It was first posted on Twitter by J.M. Giordano, who said that it was CODED. (You can tell he really meant it because it was all in caps.)

NO HATS in ANY RESTATURANT!! HILLBILLIES do that!
Yeah, but I can wear a baseball cap on top of my kippa.
And have done so, many times.
“There is no brim on a yamulke, either!!”
Or a Sikh’s turban but am sure they make religious exceptions
Their dress code was revised several days ago to permit religious head covers.
“No hoodies! Or Skiddles!”
I'm pretty sure Yamaka is some sort of Buddhist text.
Hmmm, brimless, huh. Aren't most styles of kitchen staff [sanitary] headgear brimless? Or ball cap?
I’d have to be banned, I guess, because I wear my Polarized sunglasses anywhere there is bright light, including indoors. Corneal Dystrophy, light hurts.
I’m all for dress codes at restaurants. I don’t see it as racist. I see plenty of young white males in saggy, baggy jeans. And what’s with all the 30-something males wearing baseball caps backwards. IMO, they look dumb and immature, but then I’m someone who remembers when we got dressed up to travel by air.
That is soooo racist to think that only Blacks dress that way. Sounds like the Twitter poster is profiling all blacks.
I hope they stand their ground. A good response would be if you don’t like our dress code then don’t try and eat here oh, and if you do, don’t let the door hit your a** on the way out.

Nah, it’s a Yamaha chassis with a Kawasaki motor.
All they really need to do is play ‘60s and ‘70s bubblegum music. After a month or two, they’ll have the clientele they are looking for.
I did autocross for a couple of years. I was always impressed with the class [of vehicles] that used motorcycle engines on 4-wheel chassis.
All hats and caps should be prohibited at a sit-down restaurant without a clown.
bump
Tony Soprano asked a patron to remove his cap while dining at a table in Artie Bucco’s restaurant.
Plenty of places prohibit anyone from wearing their colors, whether they be bikers, gang members, etc. No big deal.
Orders from General Larry Platt.
“Thank you Internet and Social Media for giving every single ass***** a voice.”
I seriously miss the days before every ghetto and trailer trash freak could afford internet access.
Barry manalow on a loop always gets me out the door.
