There’s a lot said about Donald and Melania Trump’s marriage, most of it insulting and cruel.
People who hate the president can’t believe anyone could love him.
At best, they regard his wife with pity, as the prisoner of a loveless marriage.
“Inside the Trump marriage: Melanie’s burden,” “The Sad Truth,” “Dark Secrets” are typical headlines.
“#SaveMelania” memes trended online as Vanity Fair fantasized she would divorce her husband and become a feminist icon.
Yet those who attended the state dinner for Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison Friday tell a very different story.
They say the affection between the first couple is genuine, demonstrative and mutually respectful behind the scenes.
“It’s a real marriage, very affectionate,” said one Australian official who observed it up close and personal during the three-day state visit.

Trump donates his salary to charity every year - so it's not for the money... and his Palm Beach mansion is larger than the White House...and he already owned his own jet... So yeah, I feel it comes down to love for his country ... and love for the people who live here.

She’s had a great, great influence on him, more than most can even imagine.
When I was studying DJT in August 2015, I was focused on his love for Vets but happened across many NY society pages that captured their story.
Can’t find those stories easily as back then through Google as Google’s algorithms will fill page after page of dirt and smut about Trump no matter what search terms are used. I have better luck using StartPage.com.
But Donald really needed moral support and a firm hand at staying focused on what’s important.
Melania made him turn around from pro-choice to pro-life, from politically moderate to more politically conservative, and so much more.
Donald was always so generous and willing to help people in need without asking for any credit. That part of him she adored. But she wanted him to commit his life to Christ, not just go through the motions but actually allow the Holy Spirit to enter his thoughts. She succeeded.
Donald has said in public over the years that Melania is solid, she is his rock.

All the republican- all the First Ladies since roe v Wade have been pro choice. Until now
I believe she’s Catholic.
God has raised up highly imperfect people, and set them in high office, many times throughout history. And He has used them to perform His will. Some of them, such as the Babylonian kings, and dare I say it, perhaps even Donald Trump, have been used of Him. I’m sure Darius and Nebuchadnezzar were “bloody men”, with numerous wives and concubines, yet the LORD used them mightily, to preserve His people. Many of us believe that He is using Donald Trump, for such a time as this. If we’re wrong, time will tell.

Both Melania Trump and Karen Pence looked nervous and ill at ease during some of the inauguration doings. Who can blame them? Both were used to being in the public eye, but there is nothing like being First or Second Lady of the whole nation; it is unique in our country. It did not take long, however, for them to feel at ease, despite the fact that they are maligned daily, in the most vicious ways, especially Melania. Brava, Ladies!

Slovenia is historically Catholic but after its long exposure under godless soviet rule its Christians (I traveled through it by train from the Czech Republic to Croatia in 2000) its Christians were all underground and bound together for security.
So not sure she’s a practicing Catholic but like most former Easter Bloc countries, she’s likely open to all Christian people.

I caught that, too. At one point, I interpreted the look they gave each other as "what have they gotten us into?". They both had excellent lives before the quest. Unlike most pols, they didn't need this to be fulfilled. JMHO.
I agree. Nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors in a married couple’s home except the 2 people in that marriage.
Off Topic (kind of): A Country singer had a big hit in the ‘70’s with a song called “Behind Closed Doors”. I think his name was
Charlie Rich. He usually wore a denim jacket onstage.
There were enormous menacing security threats then and even POTUS back then was apprehensive and tense.
Remember Candidate Trump wore a bullet-proof vest at his campaign rallies. At his early rallies he had no secret service detail around him.
Eric Trump had to practically beg for secret service protection after the incidents started to increase.
Donald had a great, great private security which he kept on even after he was elected and sworn in. Around the time of March 2017, the Secret Service Director was fired (resigned) after a prowler got on White House grounds and was looking through windows for what is rumored as a plan to kidnap Barron Trump.
But the Secret Service was needed for his campaign rallies and heavy schedule as they have the infrastructure and organization to provide more complete coverage. I’m always amazed to see POTUS at these mega rallies and look relaxed and protected. I never saw that before and I have been to conventions before. There is usually a perimeter that is not to be crossed unless one has a special pass but in a stadium? The surveillance must be extraordinary.
Although I respect greatly the Secret Service, some of their top ranks were implicated in the JFK assassination. Hence, I could understand why DJT had and kept his own private ring of security.
The last count I had on assassination attempts of DJT was at 18 and that was more than a year ago. I believe there is a continuous plan to assassinate him so I would think his private security and the Secret Service are working around the clock to protect him and his family.
Melania is an amazing story in itself. From a communist country she ends up marrying a billionaire. She speaks seven languages and is perhaps the most beautiful first lady this country has ever had . Yet because she is married to someone the left hates so intensely she is never given the credit she deserves.
Lord, keep a hedge of protection around him, in the Name of Jesus, I pray! When you think, that some rifles can strike from more than a mile away, he needs all the help he can get!
