Apologize for such a short vanity, but I want to express a thought that is distressing me a lot:
In the era of Obama, I worried about new and restrictive gun control laws, and none came.
Yet...
In the era of Trump, I was sure new and restrictive gun control laws would not come, but now I have to worry about them.
It boggles the mind.
NO Red Flag laws, which up-end due-process and make gun ownership go from a right to a privilege.
President Trump, be aware, 5 million of your most ardent supporters will sit on their hands in 2020, if you play this dangerous game with our rights.
This is a very rare (from me) call-to-action. Contact the White House. Contact your Senators. Do not let an expansion of Background Checks, or Red Flag Laws, become law.
I would contact my Senators, but I live in Minnesota.
A waste of time.
I see someone posted to the keywords and slung a few jabs, yet didnt have the courage of their convictions to come before me directly.
I understand your Senatorial dilemma...
The way things are going, in ten years your senators will be based out of Mogadishu........
That is the dumbest statement Ive seen here recently. If Trump dont do what you want, youre going to give it to a Dem. You are an idiot.
Five million is an estimate of NRA members, gun owners in the US are estimated as, by Gallup, 3 in every 10 adult Americans. About 78% of the US population is over 18, thus around 76 million of 255 million people own guns. That is a far cry more than NRA’s membership.
That is your opinion.
True
No jabs to you from me.
Simple reality: If someone betrays their base, they cannot expect their base to be all jazzed to get out and vote.
Dont wuss on this, he hasnt done anything yet. Would you rather have Butt head or Bettle?
Is this a Gun P0rn Zone?
You are correct, he hasn't.
And part of the purpose of this vanity is... yes, Trump administration folk check various forums to get a sense of where we (the base) are at. This forum is certainly one of them; it's one of the oldest.
So I'm, in part, signaling to the Trump Admin that this would be, in our minds, a politically-fatal mistake.
Also, I'm expressing dismay that I have to even WORRY about new gun laws in a Trump administration! I worried myself to death in the OBAMA administration, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO in a Trump administration!!!!
Darn! Mine fell overboard.
Theres no sitting out a fight when youre in it. I agree we must be on target, but we are in it. In for an inch, in for a mile. We fight the battle from here, Be Safe.
We had a more solid Republican majority Congress during the Obama Administration years. The Democrats have been pushed harder since then by elite folks (rich b*****s) to outlaw the right for common people to keep and bear arms. Their favorite con$tituent$ have ingested too many television fictions about the end of the world and are freaking out on their own shadows.
Laz,
Thank you for posting your concern re: President Trump and the Second Amendment, with a Call to Action.
Taxman Bravo Zulu!
I wrote President Trump, my CongressCritter and both Senators the following email letter a few days ago.
[All of you reading this post must understand that your CongressCritter and Senators, as well as POTUS, will probably have a limit on the length of your email letter. Mine was too long, so I had to edit it. I am posting the entire letter I wanted them to read in the hope that it spurs many of you to put yours together and send it.]
Here it is:
Dear President Trump,
I am a retired Navy Captain; I served my country for 28½ years, always bearing in mind that my oath to . . . support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. . . . was inviolate. I first took that oath on March 4, 1963, and have re-taken it upon each promotion during my service years. I still honor and live by that Oath.
I am a patriot; I love the United States of America and revere the Rule of Law and the US Constitution, both of which differentiate the USA from every nation in the world. Faith, Freedom, Duty, Honor, Country have been my guide posts throughout life.
As a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, I am very distressed by the knee-jerk ban the gun mentality the Liberal chattering and professional political classes have brought into the public debate. Thus far, no pundit or politician has suggested any change to our system which would reduce gun violence.
Indeed, the Liberal suggestions and demands I am familiar with do nothing more than make criminals of law-abiding citizens. Parenthetically, I believe that IS the REAL Liberal intent, and I further believe that they want to ban private gun ownership in the USA. We must not let them prevail!
I believe that the proper approach to take is to review ALL of the federal laws now on the books and throw out the unconstitutional ones and the ones (and there are many!) that dont work. Then seek ways and means to enforce the remainder in a proper and Constitutional manner.
Lenient policies and a lack of discipline in our schools and courtrooms are the cause of our difficulties in regards to gun violence and crime, not an absence of laws. We have enough laws; surely we do not need any new ones a Presidential Commission MIGHT be helpful in this regard.
And, please, drop the notion of implementing or encouraging Red Flag laws. It is my considered opinion that existing state Red Flag laws are unconstitutional in respect of the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 14th Amendments to the US Constitution, and will be adjudged so in the near term.
I write to urge you to preserve the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. Please take no action which will infringe on the God-given US citizens rights the Founding Fathers so wisely enshrined therein.
Finally, please seek the counsel of John R. Lott, Jr., Ph.D., Founder and President of The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC - https://crimeresearch.org), . . . a research and education organization dedicated to conducting academic quality research on the relationship between laws regulating the ownership or use of guns, crime, and public safety; educating the public on the results of such research; and supporting other organizations, projects, and initiatives that are organized and operated for similar purposes. Please contact him at johnrlott@crimeresearch.org. I believe you will find his advice helpful.
Patriotic Americans are counting on you to stand firm against this liberal assault on our Constitution!
Thank you!
Sincerely,
Frank L. Davis, Jr., MBA
