AT&T Inc. is exploring parting with its DirecTV satellite unit...a move that would mark a mark a sharp course correction in strategy for Chief Executive Randall Stephenson, who billed his $49 billion bet on the satellite provider as a key to the phone giants future...AT&T acquired DirecTV in 2015 for $49 billion. The companys shrinking satellite business is under a microscope after activist investor Elliott Management Corp. disclosed a $3.2 billion stake in AT&T last week and released a report pushing for strategic changes. Elliott has told investors that AT&T should unload DirecTV...

“Why not stream instead of comcast? “
I’m planning on it. That’s why I bought a Roku, Just trying to decide alternatives. From where are you getting all those channels?
I shall NEVER go to Netflix.
I’d rather watch a test pattern.
We love Direct TV and especially now that AT and T is going to go. We hate them.
The move to the American League was a condition of MLB allowing the sale to go through. So that was the first step-getting Jim Crane as an owner who was willing to invest in the team. Jeff Luhnow is a great GM. A great example of Crane and Luhnow's work was getting Justin Verlander at the 11th hour in 2017 to get to the World Series.
Second, during the lean years, in which the Astros lost over a hundred games, they racked up some good draft picks (George Springer, Carlos Correa, Alex Bregman).
A third thing is that they have an eye for players under the radar, like Jose Altuve from the Venezuela League, and Yuli Gurriel from Cuba. They traded reliever Josh Fields to the Dodgers in 2016 for minor leaguer Yordan Alvarez (probably this year's Rookie of the Year).
Drayton McLane had made some big deals when he was the owner (Randy Johnson during a playoff run, Clements and Petitte for awhile), but after the World Series loss in 2005, he seemed to lose interest in the team. The sale to Jim Crane was the turning point.
And don't get me started on the John McMullen years, in which he dressed the Astros in those hideous rainbow uniforms.
DirectTV went downhill the first day after AT&T took over. I figured that they made harder to pay your bill so they could make more money on late fees.
A good system, and it doesn’t rip us financially.
Arnt went downhill when they got Direct TV also. Our internet hotspot slowed to a crawl so wh had to go Verizon.
Before they were purchased by ATT DTV had the gold standard of customer service. Have had it since 2001. The change when ATT took over was striking.
I didn't think those uniforms looked that bad. They still sell them. Better get your order in!
Ever try to get anything done on AT&T’s website?
Good gravy, what a mess it is. Must have been designed by the Obola administration. Horribly slow and clunky, constant errors, constant forced password resets for no apparent reason. For such a large company that provides internet services, their website is beyond a joke - my cat could eat a page of code and hock up a better website inside a hairball.
Went w/ DirectTV b/c Comcast became unbearable. The satellite is fine, just a few outages during storms, not an issue.
What bugs me is I can’t access the DVR recordings from my Win computers — have to have an app on an iPhone or Android. Ridiculous.
Anyone know a solution — or if DISH allows DVR access? May have to go back to Comcast for it, sadly.
Agreed! Worst thing to ever happen to Direct TV was AT&T.
I hope AT&T gets totally out of Direct TV.
AT&T SUCKS
LOL, yes, I see people wearing them at the games. All the peanut/hot dog vendors wear them so they will stand out in the crowd. It probably would make a decent island shirt, but it doesn’t look like a baseball uniform at all.
Sorry but I’m not going to go live in a cave because a libtard creep is on the board of Netflix. All of the entertainment industry is liberal. You need to cut off your cable and stop renting any type of movies and then get back to me because anything you are watching is owned by liberals.
I use ATT direct since my mobile devices are all ATT.....
If you use a ATT connected mobile device (Phone, IPAD Notebook), ATT gives you free streaming with no data charges.....
I DON’T watch anything. I don’t watch TV and almost no movies. The only TV show I even like in the past forever was punisher.
We watch zero tv. The last time we turned it on was when notre dame caught fire. We watch everything on our tablets. But we like netflix for the good tv series. We are not stopping because of the Obamas. There will always be Something unpleasant going on.
Gotta admit that is the worst I’ve ever seen. Even worse than the one with the SOX banner on the chest.
