Summer is ending, school is starting back and former First Lady Michelle Obama is reflecting on the value of her own education and what it means that tens of millions of girls around the world still arent getting one.
To mark the International Day of Charity on Thursday, Obama, 55, shared a sweet throwback photo on Instagram from her own early school days complete with bangs and a toothy grin and encouraged her followers to do the same.
But she also urged them to go further: Its so easy for us to take our education for granted, especially here in the United States, she wrote along with the photo. Right now, more than 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school.
She pointed followers to the Girls Opportunity Alliance, run by the eponymous foundation set up her and former President Barack Obama.
I learned a lot in schoolhow to do my multiplication tables and structure a paragraph, yes, but also how to push myself, be a good friend, and dust myself off after a failure, Mrs. Obama, who grew up in Chicago, wrote on Instagram.

Get off the stage, you creep!
Every girl gets an education if they want it. I thought we were passed this nonsense like 80 years ago. Why is the left trying to fight the 1960’s culture war again? It makes zero sense. It is like they are trying to stay relevant and this is all they have.
Any girl (and boy) who lives in a failure factory district, schools that are so bad they name them after her husband, like Barack Obama Elementary in Asbury Park. Such a bad school with only 11 percent proficient in reading and math that the list on Wikipedia that has a list of everything named after Barack Obama, this school doesn’t appear there.
So Michelle, what are doing about it? Barack Obama Elementary is a failure factory, produces nothing good, why do girls have to go to that awful school because their parents are not rich enough to live in a nicer community with better schools?
We are waiting Michelle
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
“Every girl gets an education if they want it. I thought we were passed this nonsense like 80 years ago”
It’s about the girls in third world sh*tholes, not here.
“...I learned a lot in school...”
No you didn’t and besides no one cares one way or another. Go back to living large and STFU.
FYI
Every Girl Deserves’ an Education
Stop the presses! Did she just endorse school vouchers?
With her squinting, I’d say she’s appropriating Asian culture.
Burn the heretic!
ditto
Trying to prove Joan Rivers wrong.
I believe you are correct. As soon as someone speculated that she was waiting to see how the debates shake out, I agreed with that prediction.
The media would collectively orgasm.
Well Mooch, do you want to take a gander at what is the common denominator in those countries where girls aren't in school?
Of course, like the birth certificate, this could never be faked.
did they have those teeth whiteners back then?
Photoshopped from a little boy to a little girl? Inquiring minds and all that...
That has been my thought all along. My guess is that Ol Joe will be the Presidential candidate, with the Dems thinking that he’ll either keel over or have an accident, with Michelle as the VP. When Joe kicks the bucket, we have eight more years of the Kenyan. Wonderful.
That’s not Big Mike. Prolly his sister.
That pic does look like Michelle Obama. But, considering who we are dealing with, I’m not convinced Michelle is not a transexual male posing as a woman.
On the other hand, I’m sure arguing this is pointless as it distracts from issues like the Obamas being for failed socialism.
I don’t think Michelle is capable of running a campaign for president. I don’t think she comes across as likable. She has no stage presence and has never demonstrated the ability to debate or make speeches.
The whole weight of her campaign would fall on Barrack, and him being in the limelight would make the whole charade look gimmicky.
Besides, I think the Obamas would prefer to play their political hand when they have a better chance of winning.
With President Trump’s success on the economy and strong enthusiasm from his base, he will be tough to beat. So far, no one currently running appears to have what it takes to challenge him.
While I pointed out a couple of years ago that a Michelle Obama candidacy in 2020 was very possible, I think the received wisdom at this point will be to allow the current slate of candidates to fight it out for their long-shot moment in the sun. (Of course the MSM will prop whoever it is up and claim his or her winning is inevitable.) If there is anyone who will ride in on a white horse to try and rescue the party from itself, at this point it might as well be Hillary (again) because the Obamas have nothing to gain by doing so.
