Most elementary school kids don't have their college plans firmed up, but the University of Tennessee super-fan who was bullied for his homemade T-shirt can mark that off of his list. "In recognition of the fourth-grader's Volunteer spirit, the university has extended an offer of honorary admission for him to join the Class of 2032," the school said in a statement. "In addition, he has been awarded a four-year scholarship covering his tuition and fees beginning fall 2028 should he decide to attend UT and meet admission requirements."

Excellent. A decent school.
Hey, give him credit for being a Vols fan anywhere.
Maybe even in Knoxville.
Maybe he’s a basketball fan. UT pays Rick Barnes, their basketball coach, more than they do the football coach and Tennessee is a dark horse possibility for having the national number one recruiting class on signing day this November.
Was it a social media bullying or was he physically abused?
Typical school crap.
“Excellent. A decent school.”
I hope he is not a football fan!
Meanwhile my daughter with a 4.0 HS GPA and a 32 on the ACT still has a $11,000 tuition and fees per yer at UTK. She was upset that all he had to do was put U.T. on a piece of paper and pin it to an orange shirt.
We all can agree with you who paid for our childrens college tuition
.....however many see this as a strike against bullying.......
.....if all the facts are true, I can see the benefit of it
Last Saturday I approached a table of Vols at a restaurant as we were leaving. 10-12 20-somethings at a tall table near the bar.
Its been pointed out to me that Jussie Smollett - you know who he is? (Lots of yeses and nodding of heads) - Jussie Smollett got beat up for only $3500.
Long pause.
OHHHHHHHHHHH!
Then they had to explain it to 1-2 slow ones.
Sorry, I had to, it was low-hanging fruit!
CNN is concerned about bullying? Hmmmm.....
Smile!
LOL! Took me a sec.
Don’t move to E. Tenn. You’ll hate it here
No diversity, monochromatic
Lots of trees, mountains, hills, lakes and streams. No room for stores.
It’s really easy to buy a gun.
Prices for housing are too low.
Food is cheap.
Most of the people are patriotic. What’s worse, they’re honest.
There’s no income tax, so I don’t think the state will improve much.
Those TVA lakes are just miserable
Dolly Parton music is high art
The Smokies are just crawling with damn Yankees and tourists from Floriduh
Towns like Oak Ridge are just intellectual wastelands
color Orange is everywhere
Save yourself, stay away
I live here, and I’m an asshole.
Schoolkids pick on other schoolkids.
Big whoop.
Why is this major news?
And the little wuss certainly didn’t earn a scholarship.
His dad deserves a wedgie.
It is discouraging to all the students who are working hard and facing tutition payments. I am getting jaded against all these “feel” good stories. It is absurd to give the kid a scholarship because he got his feelings hurt. Heck I just wonder if any of this story is even true.
It sure is. There are a LOT of people far more deserving.
Even worse is that freshmen from outside commuting range are required to live in the dorms and purchase a meal ticket. That tacks on $6,000 per semester. $2200 meal ticket and $3800 dual occupancy dorm fees. For a dorm room with a roommate and shower. And the rooms aren’t that big. Did I mention that is PER SEMESTER?
There’s a few freepers who could bully her if the price was right. Have here create a team spirit blog and post an excerpt of it here... getting bullied by freepers has to be worth extra points to a college.
