Heather Friesen, 26, had a GoPro strapped to her head as she fell down the sheer rocks at the Kaau Crater Trail, cheating death but suffering a collapsed lung, 10 broken ribs and a fractured scapula.
Saying that time slowed down as she fell, she said her friends were freaking out that I was going to die but she knew she would make it.
She added, I found out there had been others before me who fell from the same spot and died, and I know that God saved my life that day.

I think her head was cracked before she fell. Walks right up to the edge not paying attention to what she’s standing on. Good grief...
Darwin Award goes to.....
I was just going to post those very words.
Coulda broke her neck!
I hit 84 years old last year when I went to the VA for my annual checkup.
The oriental doc's assistant is reading off all the info on the monitor and asks, "You 84 now?" "Yes" "Gee". I nearly break up, but just say "Like Timex, I take a lickin' and keep on tickin'." He takes my wrist, looks at watch, and says "You OK".
The guy was about 30 years old and I was amazed that someone his age would know about those old ads.
It’s $30 at the water park to get that kind of ride.
Seems like she bounced back pretty well...

That’s odd,..I’ve never found myself in that kind of situation.
Oh well...maybe the Reaper will get her the next time.
This happens all too frequently at Yosemite, with fatal results.
Until she fully heals from those injuries she hasn't cheated death yet. I pray she does but things can turn with that type of damage.
Thats odd,..Ive never found myself in that kind of situation.
Many years of rock and ice climbing, I’ve had a couple of long drops.
But mostly used a rope to avoid that very sudden stop.
I’m right behind you partner...by 5 years. Keep on truckin’.
She is right about time slowing down. Very lucky woman.
Ive just started Greys Anatomy (never seen it before). Somehow I feel they would be making a lot of Darwin comments. BUT...God bless her. Hope she makes the most of her potential 2nd chance.
Guardian angels are a wonderful thing.
But its never a good idea to ask them to work overtime.
"Here, hold my hard seltzer, and watch meeeeeeeeeeeaaaaauuuuuuggghhhhhh.............!!!!!" *thud*
What kind of dufusette walks to the edge of a waterfall? Even if rocks not visibly wet...they will probably have a bit of moisture on them....and so will bottom of her shoes....do we gotta see how ignorant people kill themselves and others? She is very fortunate now...but if she is just as ignorant in other parts of life...
