Women are less likely to don high heels if they are going on a date with a man they think is ugly, a controversial study has found.
Scientists quizzed 292 female university students, who were all straight, about how often they wear stilettos or other types of the shoe.
The volunteers were asked if they would wear high heels or a flat sole shoe if they went on a date with two men plucked from Google Images.
One of them was considered to be very attractive by a panel of 14 separate women, the other was deemed to be the polar opposite.

A guy must just learn to talk, talk, talk,
and he will attract all the women he needs.
The gift of gab always reels em in.
Yes, but did they shave?
Lots of beating around the bush in this story.
Pun intended?
The article is a fail because the pix of the two men are not included.
A man can be fat, bald, missing half his teeth, grows a beard, and will still have plenty of women find him attractive at 61. If he was 54, every woman on the planet will ignore him, unless he is somehow worth 5 million or more.
I feel sorry for all you short guys out there,"
Heh, heh. I am here to tell you that I must be the exception to that rule. I'm exactly 5'4", never been rich, but when I was single I had beautiful women of all kinds calling ME up for dates. Must be my self-confidence and that old Latin-lover charm!
Short guys with confident attitudes are attractive. But, yeah, tall guys can be magnetic, all things being equal. Who knows why? Probably the same reason blondes have more fun.
Bitter, or just cynical? Bad attitudes are a turn-off. Just sayin.
LOL! I think you’ve got something there.
I thought they only went out with guys they considered ugly if the person was especially endowed...hard to walk on high heels after her legs have gone all wobbly....
