Great band. “Stop Making Sense” is right up there with “The Last Waltz” as the greatest concert movie.
One of my favorite songs (and groups). They lyrics are uber cool.
I was 21 years old in 1979. The Talking Heads, The Cars, Dire Straights, Devo and other New Wave groups had profoundly made a difference to me.
It’s on most of my driving playlists.
Same as it ever was.
What a great tune, Eno was involved in this one.
I saw this band at the Youngstown Agora, Halloween night 1977.
I think Talking Heads are an acquired taste. While I appreciate their talent, something about their music was irritating to me. No charms to soothe my savage breast.
Hard to believe David Byrne is 67 now.
Same as it ever was
Where is Jerry Harrison?
Incredibly easy and fun song to play on a guitar. Verse is all A minor. Chorus is all E major. That’s it.
If I could go back in time Id go straight to CBGBs and watch ever performance Heads played there. There is no music like that anymore, (insert old Person sigh)
Well, You may ask yourself, "How did he get there?"
Didn’t occur to me until you mentioned it, but I found this on Wikipedia:
“Byrne is known for his activism in support of increased cycling and for having used a bike as his main means of transport throughout his life, especially cycling around New York.[53] In Los Angeles, Byrne drives a Citroën DS, but in New York, he does not drive a car.[54][55]
“Byrne says that he began cycling while he was in high school and returned to it as an adult in the late 1970s. He likes the freedom and exhilaration cycling gives him. He has written widely on cycling, including a 2009 book, Bicycle Diaries.[56] In August 2009, Byrne auctioned his Montague folding bike to raise money for the London Cycling Campaign.”
You would think that at that age he would be able to stop his politically correct groveling.
