Great.
Another baby saved.
This is an excellent idea. One of the things that discourages adoption is the possibility of the birth parents getting the kid back. I’ve read about some of the expensive and emotionally-draining legal tangles involved.
I don’t know how to put it in words, but there’s just something not right with these baby drop-off boxes. No, I wouldn’t rather have the parents throw the child in the dumpster, but I don’t feel it’s any less macabre to anonymously just leave a child in a box.
On the one hand, I don’t want to encourage people by making it easy to hand off a child anonymously, and on the other hand, you could argue it’s going to happen anyway, you might as well make an option to save a baby this way. I don’t feel confused, I just feel ambivalent.
Planned Parenthood looks at this and thinks what a great way to procure more baby parts.
“Baby Box”?...How cute.

Great idea. It is excellent that the "Baby Box" service more or less guarantees that the mother can remain anonymous. No forms to fill out, no photo ID required, no photos in the local newspaper or on the internet, no one asking embarrassing questions. So long as the mother shows up at the box with her face covered, this option can be almost as private as the typical dumpster drop-off.
Yeah - child with a future? Definite win.
How wonderful is that!
There’s one that Ulrich Klopfer didn’t get...
