The kid should of asked for Saquon Barkley’s autograph.

I’m pretty sure the kid will recover eventually and may even go on to lead a productive life.

His parents should receive a visit from CPS for allowing him to wear such a repugnant shirt in Texas.

This is completely understandable.
The guy is an adult, playing a children’s game.
Being confronted with an actual child reminds him of the childishness of his profession.

Of course he is embarrassed, and of course that made him react rudely.

I agree 100%. The kid is old enough to know about team loyalty. If he did not know, he should know now.

True story. In the early 70s I was about 15 when we attended a Laker game, as we did often. After the game, I snuck into the Forum club. Jerry West was standing there talking to a man. I kindly asked for his autograph. He didn’t hesitate, and I thanked him.

A little bit later, outside the Forum, we waited for the Bucks to come out so I could get Oscar Robertson’s autograph. As the “big o” came out with Bobby Dandridge, I asked the Big O for his autograph. He said no. No autographs. And they kept walking. I said to him as he walked away.....”come on Oscar, Jerry signed for me”....I figured this was a compliment since they were considered the 2 best at the time.

He stopped, turned around, looked at me and shouted..”I could care less what Jerry did for you.”....and kept walking. This is a true story, a couple of my high school friends were there and witnessed it.

Oscar Robertson was a jerk that night as Lawrence was on Sunday. If you can be mean to kid who asks for your autograph...a kid.....then you are a jerk.

At least he didn’t say the kid was the wrong race to get an autograph.

I hope he’s not another “Dexter Manley” case.

No surprise here. This player is no more than a disgruntled member of a disreputable team. Owned by a child like man. All no class

There is a short video of the incident. The kid looks to be 9-12 with dark hair and white skin. Maybe hispanic or Italian/Mediterranean. Plus he was dressed head to toe in NY Giants colors, not just a hat or Jersey. And he was with a group of kids in similar attire. The kids looked like they knew or were told to stand to get close to the Cowboys players leaving the premises. I doubt that the race of the kid mattered to the player.

Exactly...thousands will remember him for being an ass and who knows? He may be traded. Any player with brains knows that popularity translates into cash for merchandise.

“They should be thankful that some fans still give a crap.”

DeMarcus needs to learn that not only does he represent the Cowboys, he is also an ambassador for the NFL. He, along with numerous others need to keep that in mind when a kid asks for an autograph. All the kid knows is he loves football and he just met an NFL player and asked for an autograph. And was turned down. That sucks.

Oh good God.

Never mind players move around to other teams all the time. He could end up a Giant. Then what?

Point is stop acting with such cruddy priorities. It's a GAME, not a life&death struggle with commie Moslems.

Neither fans, NOR players with skin in the game should act like it's THAT important.

Give the kid a thrill. Who cares what team he cheers? If he wanted to see YOU, then you should be honored. Lots of MUCH better legendary players have been likewise adored by “enemies”, and I'm sure this happened all the time.

Hell, I may be a Raven/Oriole fan, but I'll take the mementoes of any legend!

“...And was turned down.”
Back in the mid 50’ I was around 11. My hero was Mickey Mantle. I was in the Bronxwood Little League. Even had his number on my uniform. He was at some event near the Yankee Stadium, can’t remember which one, I wanted him to sign my Topps baseball card with his pix on it. He walked right by me as if I wasn’t there. Had my uniform on along with my baseball cap. I really felt bad, for a long time.
