Spent two months (working) there in '99 - didn't use tour guides, just my Bible, some history ref's and a rented Volvo.
Maybe wasn't the most efficient use of time, but saw things you probably wouldn't see with a tour guide...

Conservative talk show host Dennis Prager is promoting a tour with himself and Mike Gallegher in December 2019. Might give that some thought.

Steve & Janet Ray at catholicconvert.com Steve & his wife did the 10 part series on DVD known as the “Footprints of God.” He is funny as hell and known as Jerusalem Jones. Teresa Tomeo has attended his tours so it is quite the learning experience. God Bless!

Go to an all inclusive in the beach resort of Eilat. Israel is small and then do day trips here and there.

I toured with Zola Levitt Ministries a few years ago. It was amazing.

Since one cannot go there armed and be so equipped while there, I have no advice for traveling there... oh, yeah, I don’t leave the US anymore, and avoid certain “no go” states and districts....

Have a good time.

Whichever group you go with, try and see the following sites (I assume you are a Christian):

1. Church of the Holy Sepulcher and the Via Dolorosa, Jerusalem
2. The Western Wall, preferably on a Friday night at Sunset
3. The Western Wall tunnels
4. The Valley of the Cross, Jerusalem (has a very nice ancient monastery)
5. Mt. Zion, Jerusalem
6. Mount of Olives, Jerusalem
7 The Jaffa Gate to the Tower of David, Jerusalem
8. Mahane Yehuda, the open-air fruit market in Jerusalem
9. Caesaria
10. Sapphora
11. The Sea of Galilee
12. Capernaum
13. Magdala, a city on the Sea of Galilee where it is believed Mary Magdalene came from
14. The Crusader fortress in Acco
15. Baptism site on the Jordan River
16. Bethlehem
17. Nazareth
18. The excavated sites in the Old City of Jerusalem
19. Yardenit, the baptism site on the Jordan River
20. Tel Aviv
21. Jaffa (part of Tel Aviv)
22. Masada

I loved Zola. Was this before he passed?
