Nordic countries top many global comparisons of wellbeing and equality. Raising kids while both parents work full time is relatively easy today; economic uncertainty and unemployment, which may cause people to postpone having and raising kids, have retreated during recent boom years.
Yet, fertility has been falling in all Nordic countries. At the lower end, the total fertility rate fell to 1.43 percent in Finland in 2018, leaving scientists and politicians scratching their heads. The fertility rate measures the average number of children a woman will have in her lifetime, and a fertility rate this low has a significant impact on the country’s future demographics.
Initially, there would be less need for daycare and schools, implying a cost-saving for taxpayers. But the shrinking working-age population together with an aging population would make the welfare state unsustainable in coming decades.
Finland and other Nordic countries are not alone in this issue. Fertility typically falls with economic development, and many developed countries have even fewer babies than Finland. Falling birth rates in high-income countries have been explained, in part, by higher education and more attractive careers for women, who continue to be expected to do the majority of childcare and housework. Having to choose between jobs and motherhood, many women will keep working or try to have their first baby at an older age, when they feel secure about their careers and personal finances. I’ve observed the exact opposite of what you said. Older men do not like to be alone, and they tend to marry again if their spouse dies.
Older women deal better with being alone if their spouse has died. They don’t feel the need to remarry as much as men do.
There are exceptions, of course, but generally this is how it goes.

I think there’s a difference between men who were married and those that never were. Men are creatures of habit. If they are accustomed to marriage they will seek it out even in older age if they lose a spouse. A man who was always single won’t because he’s accustomed to that. This is especially true of those who didn’t marry intentionally; seen it more than once.
With widowed older women, the drive to remarry is less most likely because they’ve had their children and have grandchildren. The imperative has been fulfilled in their case. This is quite different from the never married, childless woman, who is more likely to look at her life as a failure for not fulfilling that ever present biological imperative.

Yes, I agree with that. Men who stay single most of their lives will probably not seek out a wife in latter years and will die single.
God blesses both the single and the married life if it is lived for Him.
If this current trend to stay single is only for self-gratifying reasons, then those individuals will experience a much lonelier existence, however.

Many young women are getting with a few young men for some very wrong reasons in a drug abuse regime. Our population is so saturated with it, that the few decent ones can’t find each other. Our nation as it was, has nearly been destroyed by feminism and romanticism.
I see a lot of young couples out walking their dogs. One for him, another for her.

It is not self gratification to look at the current situation and say “not worth it” if it actually isn’t. And it usually isn’t.
Exceptions abound, clearly. We are talking about a trend, not a universal rule.
Women today are manipulative whores. Alpha males are attracting over 80% of women who are willing to do anything, and I mean anything, to beat out other women. Why marry and expose your finances to a whore (See I can generalize as well)?
