The death toll from devastating Hurricane Dorian will be 'staggering' with thousands still missing, officials have warned amid reports looters are 'trying to shoot people' in the scramble for food and water.
Up to 70,000 are in need of 'life-saving assistance' while Great Abaco is said to be virtually uninhabitable, with bodies piled up and witnesses say there is a 'smell of death' with corpses floating in the water.
While the official death toll stands at 30, that number is expected to rise today and hundreds of body bags have been ordered along with extra freezers.
A massive international relief effort was ramped up today as survivors revealed horrifying details of the 'apocalyptic' aftermath of the 185mph, Category-5 storm.
One of them, Alicia Cooke, broke down in tears as she revealed: 'Everything is gone, people are starting to panic. Pillaging, looting, trying to shoot people for food and water. It's just no way everyone's going to get out.'

Forget Greenland. Now would be a good time to buy Abaco island and neighboring islands cheap. And it would expand our territorial waters significantly too.

Yes, I know. Haiti wasn’t ours either.
I think it’s part of the Commonwealth like Canada?
Common wealth is right, they will be after ours as soon as possible.
I’m sure it will help.
I realized the UK is the agent of helping out there officially, but then Haiti wasn’t our cause either.
We just always help out.

Developer etiquette is to wait until the funerals are over before making offers.
Wife and I did a stay at The Atlantis on Paradise Island about twenty years ago - late one afternoon she went back to the room for some reason or another and I hung around the pool enjoying probably a liquid Bahama Mama and listening to the “island music” coming over the loudspeakers - then the musical mood changed and I was listening to a song which might best be described as the sort of thing you might hear from the underground in an African apartheid country - don’t recall the exact wording but the essence was that we don’t like whites, we don’t want you here, and we’ll get rid of you any way we can including some that’ll be very bloody and painful - after about two minutes the little song ended and it was back to steel drums and calypso in keeping with the resort setting - never knew if this was an act of protest from some rogue staff member or a deliberate action to taunt us fat and happy tourists, but I saw the affability and friendly smiles of the staff in a different, darker light after that.....
Not trying to sound mean but maybe this is nature’s way of telling people that they should not be living in the Caribbean. Okay, you can build a house there but just don’t be surprised when a hurricane knocks it over.
