Hope they have more honest leadership than PR.
I guess they never watchedThe Three Little Pigs.
Medical problems, I can see. Other than that, didn’t your neighbors live through WWII, the depression and general life situations where they learned how to get past a few weeks of disaster?
having diversity has its downsides......our country now has such a mix that we have no center core, no sense of one culture.....
Why can’t they report the deaths?
the guy grabbing is crotch....what is up with these people?....
Well, I’m talking about a situation where there is a complete break down of civil order and services. My neighbors are in their 70s and 80s. Many wouldn’t be able to physically sustain themselves. Not to mention many are dependent on medication and such. In an extended disaster, many wouldn’t last long.
It sounds hard hearted, but if you were a prepper, would you share your limited resources with your frail neighbors? Survival instincts would kick in I bet.
From the looks of it, there is not much to loot. I suppose you can steal the rags your neighbor is wearing....
“having diversity has its downsides......our country now has such a mix that we have no center core, no sense of one culture.”
This was done on purpose as they opened the floodgates to disenfranchise American citizens. America has been Balkanized and we must fight like hell to keep the country together.
Who is there to enforce Martial Law?
Looks like a Berlin Airlift is needed.
Looks like the pic is from Louisiana after one of the hurricanes.
Yes, the crime activity was getting bad last year even in Nassau where the cruise ships dock. Cruise lines were even advising passengers not to enter certain areas of town.
So, no surprise to me that its a problem now. Never understood the tourism attraction there, anyway. Nice beaches, I suppose, but everything else is kind of third world Disneyland ghetto. It is right in the middle of hurricane tracks, so every year they run the risk of getting smacked.
They are too poor to afford concrete, so the continue to build these cheap, wood framed structures which are doomed to be scoured from the face of the earth every 10-20 years or so.
What can they do, otherwise? If the Bahamas was populated by more industrious folks, everything there would be made of concrete or steel, elevated off the ground, with banned wood frame buildings, and this cycle of misery would be cut off.
Exactly. The government should build some hurricane proof "shelters" on high ground for emergencies. The other 99% of the time they can be used for storage or something.
That’s the whole point. They’ve lived through hard times so should have learned from them. Frail has nothing to do with smarts. My frail grandparents raised me and taught me how to prep and make do.
There is no reason why they can’t do at least minimal prep like canned goods, water, flashlights, a first aid kit and various sized batteries. There’s no reason they can’t stock extra meds and charged batteries for medical equipment.
FR has had this discussion many times. No reason why you can’t ask your doctor to give you a prescription for a few extra doses for prep or emergency purposes. No reason why you can’t claim you “accidentally” dropped a bottle of meds in the toilet or they were in the purse you “lost” so you need another. If your insurance won’t allow for getting more, then that’s easy to get around, too. If the prescription is good for 30 days, you can usually get a refill at the 21 day mark. Refill every 21 days and you have an extra month’s supply by the 4th refill.
Talk to the hand about low incomes.
400k population of the Bahamas.
6-7 millions tourists per year. Granted, tourists stay a few days so divide them out to a week’s stay so 125k. IOW, one third of the housing in the Bahamas is for tourists. One would think the majority of rentals would be owned by people with some money for improvements. Those owners don’t make $$$ when the rental is swept off the face of the earth.
Don’t know the rates there but here they’re $1000/wk and waaaay up. A few weeks would buy a lot of cement.
Its the only part of him that ever works.
Before you decide, consider that they might have knowledge that would apply, even if they’re too frail to act on it by themselves.
