Leslie Nielson had lots of non-comedic roles. Among other things he was in Forbidden Planet. The comedy was sort of a late-career detour, which made him more successful than ever before.

He got killed off early in the Poseidon Adventure, but no one called him Shirley.

I vividly remember seeing it at the drive-in when it came out.

So the age Mary Ann or Ginger question is still valid...only now its about which will outlive the other.

The week that Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died, the grandmother of a co-worker of mine lamented, “People are dying these days that have never died before!”

He wasn’t “comedic” until “Airplane!”

That was one of the great things about the movie "Airplane!" was getting so many actors who were typecast as *dramatic* stars to perform comedy - Nielsen, Peter Graves, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges..

Nielsen once said others were invited to take part but some felt it might damage their careers to do comedy or thought the humor in the film was beneath them.

Nielson played the big-shot evil guy in the series ending two-part episode of “Kung Fu.”

Maybe they met in the waiting room.

A fantastic beauty. I remember her on The Alfred Hitchcock Show. She stood out enough that I remember her very well many years later.

Yes! I was going to mention....the Red Buttons character was trying to help her throughout the movie.

I think their characters both survived.

My family lived in Massachusetts for a few years when I was in high school. I remember seeing this movie in the theater with my father way back then.

I didn’t know Carol Lynley was on an episode of “The Invaders.”

I was obsessed with that TV show when I was a kid.

I’ll never forget a screening in 3D of the sci fi movie It Came From Outer Space. Russell Johnson has a bit part in it and one shot where you see him riding in a jeep or car comes on and a bunch of us in the audience yell It’s the Professor! It still makes me chuckle.
