Calling it road rage masks what it really is. An American who thinks that violence is the right response to any slight, no matter how small.

Corrections officers carry the necessary and mandatory corrections demeanor. However, this does not go down well outside of the work walls. If she acted like the off duty prison workers I’ve interacted with, then she likely overplayed her hand outside of her normally controlled environment but with an armed punk. I’m betting that if some of his future officers get word about this, they’re gonna give him “special attention”.
I get the feeling that the deceased mom was dressed in uniform when she got out of the car, and that is what got her killed. Otherwise, the perp would have thought he was just dealing with another woman he could verbally push around.
I’ve seen this sort of thing happen on three different occasions to two female security guards and one female deputy. The perps saw the uniforms and immediately thought they were going to jail. Though none of those women were killed, they all three spent some time in the hospital.
I would suggest to all law enforcement that if you’re going to advertise that you’re a peace officer, then be ready to use the gun that goes with it. I’m not saying that’s what happened in this case, but I would bet my nickel on it.

Several decades ago I was giving my younger sister driving lessons. I felt comfortable enough to take her on the road instead of just practicing in the mall parking lot and as we were approaching a red light, I noticed she was going a little fast and I yelled at her to “brake, brake, brake!!!”. She attempted it, but she didn’t apply enough pressure and we ended up rear ending a car in front of us.
The older fella comes out, assesses damage (minor scratches) and I apologetically explain the situation. He looks at us, chuckles and said he didn’t care, it was a beat up old car and no real damage was visible besides a few scratches. He wished my sister good luck with her license test and went on his way.
When that happened to me many years later and I was the one driving the beat up older car, I reciprocated and told him not to worry, it was just cosmetic and I never followed up nor got his insurance. It was a good lesson in humanity and tolerance that that dude so many many years ago taught me.

Yikes. Of course it is these articles that make me, probably unfounded, to drive in the USA. I fear that any altercation will turn into me getting shot by someone who is normally law abiding but armed. Does this happen often?
