An Ohio homeowner shot dead two teenage boys who he say were 'trespassing' on his property on Wednesday night.
The homeowner has not been named but is being questioned.
He told police that on Wednesday at 9.30pm, he shot the two boys in his 'garage'. He called 911 afterwards.
The boys have been identified as 17-year-olds Devon Henderson and Javier Harrison. It remains unclear if they were trying to break into the property, or what their motive for being there was.
When the homeowner called 911, he told the operator: 'I shot two guys. I shot two persons tried to rob to do something in my house.'
Dayton Daily News, a local outlet, says one of the teenagers' father's believed they knew the shooter and had been in the garage before.

Anything past the “property line” is felony trespassing and every private property owner has the constitutional right to protect that private property. This slow encroachment onto and into private property is communist ideology.
“No threat to the shooters life.”
True perhaps, but if it’s dark how do you know there is or is not a threat? Do you wait for the muzzle flash?
Need to look carefully at the laws for each state. Shooting in self defense is always justified. Shooting to protect property not always so.
“So I can just break into your house and steal everything.”
So, where in this did it jump from garage to house? If you come in my house, at night, uninvited, you will be shot. And, I won’t go to jail.
Enough. Take your anger issues elsewhere.

Excellent point.
See the link in post 62.
If its, true, and I believe it is, the Homeowner knew those boys would smoke dope in his garage.
More needs to be known, but at first glance - this was a bad shoot and the homeowners should go to jail.

Well said.
No outrage from this corner. The homeowner saved society from these two. Thankfully, they didn’t get into his or someone else’s house and did unspeakable deeds to the family.
Parents are supposed to be held liable for what their minor kids get into. Maybe they should serve whatever time trespassing holds.
Anger Issues?
Trump WON!
Expert witness opinion from someone who has never had their property invaded or had their life threatened..........
Being an ever increasing anti-crime advocate, if I were on the jury I would vote to acquit........
Ya gotta put a stop to this nonsense sooner or later.........
Do they not have castle law in Ohio? A garage is part of the house, or so my property tax assessor claims.
Theres a tiny chance this is cold blooded murder.
The father says these guys knew the shooter.
Just to play devils advocate what if the owner was part of a burglary ring that used the teens as petty thieves and decided he wanted to cut bait...
You have no way of knowing that. Two against one, and from the pics at the article they were adult size and in athletic physical condition. We don't know how old, or how frail, the owner was.
If I was investigating suspicious sounds in my garage, and suddenly came upon these two large thugs, I would feel threatened. If they advanced upon him with the apparent intent to overpower him, then he would have the right to shoot.
He should have waited for a while and thought about it. Then he could have called the police and waited a while longer. Good idea.
I like the window treatments.
See my 118. I think the article states its a detached garage, which may not apply to castle doctrine.
In some locations, that is exactly correct. A burglar can literally walk out your front door with your television set and you cannot legally do anything to him unless he threatens you with assault. Even then, your lawful options may be very limited.
You are supposed to report the crime to the Police and wait for them to do something about it. Most likely they will do nothing effective.
It is monstrously stupid. In some areas, it is also the law. Best to be aware of the laws in your area. They may not be in your favor.
