here is no doubt that Jim Comey was part of a conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump and his Presidency. But all the evidence is not yet on the record. There is some understandable frustration reverberating around the web that Comey is not being indicted in the wake of the latest Inspector General report detailing Jim Comeys inappropriate and unethical handling of Government material. But that is not the role of the Inspector General. It is up to DOJ to prosecute and a careful reading of the current report makes clear that there was not adequate foundation to get an indictment and prosecute.
However, ff you believe that Jim Comey is getting a pass and will get away with corrupt activity, let me suggest you are overreacting and that patience is warranted. Comey is not out of the woods.
My only previous experience with Bill Barr was the role he played in making sure that the two guys who planted the bomb on Pan Am 103 were prosecuted. Barr was a straight shooter and would not cut corners. I also am friends with a person who worked directly for him during that period. That person insists that Barr is not going to let Comey and Brennan and Clapper off the hook. But that person also has reminded me that Barr will do it by the book and do it fairly.
With that predicate, I want you to focus on the core of todays Inspector General report. It is very simple and concise:

And so will the next one and next one be.
I've been saying for months that the facts of this particular case -- the Comey "leaks" to the New York Times -- would never support any kind of criminal prosecution.
There were three items in particular that come into play here:
1. The documents were classified retroactively, which means a prosecutor would have an extra hurdle to clear in order to make the charges stick.
2. The documents were Comey's own infantile memos to himself -- which means a prosecutor would first have to prove that the information contained in them was true in order to get a conviction. This is a critical point. We've been saying from the beginning that the memos were a bunch of self-serving nonsense, and were filled with a lot of fiction. You can't have it both ways. Either the documents were childish fiction, or they were classified matters of fact. I'll go with "Childish Fiction" for $500, Alex.
3. If Comey were ever prosecuted for leaking those memos to the NYT, he'd have the right to call President Trump as a witness to testify about whether the information in them was true or false. There's no way in hell that was ever going to happen, folks.
After a lengthy and thorough investigation, hundreds of interviews, all conducted by our highly professional team and hours of deliberation we have found that even though their were some mistakes made, we found no evidence of criminal intent. Therefore this case is closed and we will not be taking any questions.....ever.
I have posted this particular sarcasm numerous times as we awaited a decision from the swamp, as recently as 8/26, and as far in the past as two weeks before Comeys July 5, 2016 public statement exonerating Hillary Clinton. Only problem is, it has always been the actual statement not sarcasm.
Keep you powder dry. We just need you to vote for more Republicans and then they will have enough votes to respond to the voters’ wishes. This is the most important election ever. Tic toc there is still more bombshell information to come out. Barr is for real and he is going to make sure that we are going to see some very important indictments.
Sarc.of course.
Abuse of power is not a crime. Heck, it isn’t even a civil offense unless it results in deprivation of certain civil rights under color of law.
Only the FISAs are important.
They signed them while not following the Woods procedures.
It’s all being released on a schedule.
Of course Comey took a victory lap. He deserves it. He played us like a fiddle. We all know that he acted criminally and should be in jail however this report just set in stone the two tier justice system. This was our last best chance to tare down the two tier justice system and we blew it. it doesnt matter if the report was scathing. The fact that he got off scot-free makes him a democrat hero, for now, and now all were going to see is Comeys face on every news program and talk show for months. The decision not to prosecute gives me that same feeling of hopelessness that I had just before the 2016 election. I hate feeling hopeless. Its time for a revolution
And here I thought that a federal prosecutor could indict a “ham sandwich” in front of a grand jury. I am not buying that the big fish in the swamp are going to pay for their crimes.
“......There is some understandable frustration reverberating around the web that Comey is not being indicted in the wake of the latest Inspector General report detailing Jim Comeys inappropriate and unethical handling of Government material.......”
But to be sure he said that Comey *should* face a trial...he just said he probably won't.
They still could have prosecuted him, and then added on other charges as those indictments were secured. I’m getting tired of being patient to be honest.
Ha ha ha ha ha
“In 3-5 weeks or 3-5 years for that matter, all that will come out is another excuse why they wont be prosecuted.”
I’m unwilling to conclude similarly after this OIG Report especially since we knew there would be no criminal proceedings to follow.
My feeling is that McCabe will not escape and may turn out to be the linchpin to undoing much of the Obamunist Deep State. Let’s wait and see.
Ultimately, this is on Trumps shoulders. He can demand that the justice department act more aggressively in going after the swamp creatures. And he can fire any justice department personnel that refuse to follow orders.
He went in there to drain the swamp. He find out its an ocean and no drainage plugs. Either they have something on him or maybe their threats are about harming the country itself.
The Presidents dont have as much power as anyone thought. (And that isnt good because its not the People to whom presidents are accountable).
The rule of law fell dead from it’s many cuts today. It’s dead Jim.
Oh please... Enough of the BS already! Trump is ALONE in WDC and he has is US deplorables!
I hope that you are correct, I really do. And we do not have anything to do but wait do we?
Comeys best defense would be that the information in those memos was fabricated bullsh!t. You cant be prosecuted for leaking classified information if the information you leak isnt true.
+++++
I havent actually read the memos but you actually make a good point. Should have thought of it myself.
Who is Larry C. Johnson?
The U.S. Justice Department has decided not to prosecute former FBI Director James Comey despite an internal investigation that found he improperly leaked information to the news media, the department’s Office of Inspector General said on Thursday.
