Larry C. Johnson: Keep Your Powder Dry, Comey Is Not Out of the Woods Yet
GP ^ | 08/29/2019 | Jim Hoft

here is no doubt that Jim Comey was part of a conspiracy to destroy Donald Trump and his Presidency. But all the evidence is not yet on the record. There is some understandable frustration reverberating around the web that Comey is not being indicted in the wake of the latest Inspector General report detailing Jim Comey’s inappropriate and unethical handling of Government material. But that is not the role of the Inspector General. It is up to DOJ to prosecute and a careful reading of the current report makes clear that there was not adequate foundation to get an indictment and prosecute.

However, ff you believe that Jim Comey is getting a pass and will get away with corrupt activity, let me suggest you are overreacting and that patience is warranted. Comey is not out of the woods.

My only previous experience with Bill Barr was the role he played in making sure that the two guys who planted the bomb on Pan Am 103 were prosecuted. Barr was a straight shooter and would not cut corners. I also am friends with a person who worked directly for him during that period. That person insists that Barr is not going to let Comey and Brennan and Clapper off the hook. But that person also has reminded me that Barr will do it by the book and do it fairly.

With that predicate, I want you to focus on the core of today’s Inspector General report. It is very simple and concise:

comey stated as fact in front of congress and live TV that he specifically released the memos to initiate a SC appointment. Where was that mentioned in the IG report?

To underline how arbitrary the Justice system is these days, just prosecute him for disorderly conduct.

Horse hocket, nothing is going to happen to Comey or McCabe, or anyone else for that matter. We have lost the “rule of law”, it’s now the wild west.

Exactly.
Over 2 years.
Not one single indictment.
Just a lot of chest pounding.

Until there is proof to the contrary, the Swamp wins and we’re a banana republic. Justice delayed is justice denied, and justice denied is the death knell for a society.

But all the evidence is not yet on the record.

That's right, so why does Barr or anyone at the DofJ think they need to comment every time a batch of evidence is released? Why not wait to all the investigations are complete before making comments about whether or not they will prosecute for some specific crime?

There have been uncountable cases where people were charged with numerous crimes, from not too serious to extremely serious. They should keep their mouths shut until all the investigations involving Comey and all the others have been completed.

Amazing how these folks can break the law, brag about it, admit it, and yet, at the same time there isn’t enough evidence to go to a Grand Jury nor would any Prosecutor consider presenting the case to a jury. WOW!!!!

No one will see a courtroom let alone a jail cell. It will be swept under the rug like Epstein’s murder. Move one! Lets talk about Climate Change! Or Trumps awful tweets, or Kids in Cages....

Ultimately, this is on Trump’s shoulders. He can demand that the justice department act more aggressively in going after the swamp creatures. And he can fire any justice department personnel that refuse to follow orders.

It’s in the report that Comey admitted to trying to get a Special Counsel as the reason for the memos being circulated to the media.

He lied and got away with other aspects. Hopefully, the FISA Abuse report coming in 3-5 weeks will see an appropriate criminal referral for James “Cardinal” Comey.

So, exactly how long did it take to indict Flynn, Papadopoulos, Manafort, Stone, etc!
