Incan Empire's 'Reign of Terror' Revealed in Four Ancient Skulls Found in Trash Heap
Live Science ^ | 08/27/2019 | Isobel Whitcomb

Something was amiss at the ruins of Iglesia Colorada, an ancient Incan village in the foothills of the Andes. In the remains of what had been a garbage dump, among ancient food scraps and shards of discarded pottery, researchers discovered four skulls. No bodies, no formal burial, no jewelry to carry on to an afterlife — just the skulls. No one knew why they were there.

For over 15 years, since the skulls were uncovered in 2003, the mystery has baffled archaeologists. But two researchers at the National Museum of Natural History in Santiago, Chile, have proposed an explanation: The skulls paint a picture of an Incan reign of terror, in which the heads of four villagers were put on display as a warning to inhabitants.

The period from the late 1400s to the early 1500s was a tumultuous time for much of South America. During these years, the Incan empire was slowly expanding its reach across the Andes. While civilizations had long existed in the valleys of the Andes, they were mostly isolated, said study co-author Francisco Garrido, the curator of archaeology at the National Museum of Natural History. While some of these places probably joined the empire without much resistance, others weren't so amenable, he added.

I vaguely remember the judged events which historians mark the end of the ‘Middle Ages’ being :

Columbus Sailing for the New World - (to China - he hoped, except there was this continent in the way) 1492

The Fall of Constantinople 1453

Somewhere else I recall a figurative ‘Last Battle Of the Middle Ages’ where the Mamelukes in Egypt tried to fight the French(early Napoleon times)

Despite the libtard mentality deciding history being actions of ‘evil white men’, in reality the Aztecs and Incas themselves (rapidly conquered in virtually no time at all historically) their established empires were only about 100 and 200 years old respectably.

Conquerors being conquered

All true the usual means (which people here have mentioned) done when EVERYONE has conquering others throughout history ...

(Gauls and Germans and Brits PARTICULARLY did not like Roman Lawyers)

The theory is that the skulls found in the rubbish heap were these sacrificial loved ones killed by the Incans? Why would they throw loved ones in a rubbish heap? Why come up with this theory, I didn’t see any evidence in the article.

I contend the Incans are misunderstood, and the most gentle empire of all! I have just as much evidence as that as that they were killed as warnings to behave thrown into a rubbish heap. At least from the article.

"This is skull of the Great Inca, $500." "I don't want to spend that much." "Okay, then here's this small one, for $200, it's the skull of the Great Inca as a boy." Thanks BenLurkin.

Has there ever been a case where meeting a technologically more advanced civilization went well for any people?

The Incans liked to do their sacrifices by strangling young girls and leaving them frozen sitting on mountains. A nuber of such have been found and some people kind of romanticize them.
