Young couple dies in collision leaving their wedding ceremony

Minutes after their wedding ceremony, a young Texas couple was killed in a car collision as they were leaving the courthouse, CNN affiliate KFDM reported.

Harley Morgan, 19, and Rhiannon Boudreaux, 20, were killed in the town of Orange, more than 20 miles east of Beaumont, Texas.

They pulled out of the parking lot and were merging onto Highway 87 when their car collided with a pickup truck that was towing a trailer loaded with a tractor, the Orange Police Department said in a statement.

The newlyweds were leaving an Orange County Justice of the Peace precinct after their marriage ceremony, Lt. Gary Keaton, a spokesman for the department said. Behind them were the groom's mother and sister, who witnessed the deadly collision.

It’s funny I sort of recalled it in the back of my head and I had the tower name wrong. I did an initial search and came up with bupkis. Then I started skimming through Matthew and still came up with nothing. Was Pretty sure the gospel of John didn’t have this since almost half of that is the deeply spiritual discourse Jesus gives his disciples just before the Passion. So I then started skimming through Luke as best I could and found it at 13. Mark would have been my last shot.

I try not to get personal or argumentative with anyone on this or any site. I thought it was part of the rules and decorum of Free Republic. That is all. Roger Wilco. Over and out.

MANY years ago my sister was getting ready to go to a wedding.

The morning of the wedding, the groom was killed in a car accident.

Everyone was in a state of shock, and all the friends and family that were gathered for a wedding attended a funeral instead.

It was an awful situation.

My pastor’s daughter and her fiance were married by a JOTP because they had just bought a house and wanted to move in together prior to their wedding. Our pastor encouraged the young couple to get married in a civil ceremony and proceed with the wedding as planned. That way there was no impropriety. They did as he suggested. Maybe that’s why this young couple did the same. What a tragic story for all involved.

Why? Because certain denominations tell you that if you’re not married in a church, you are not married in the eyes of God? Oh, yeah and don’t forget it costs money and people need to pay the church/priest to provide this service. If God is everywhere, what’s wrong with the courthouse?

This is a terrible tragedy.

The advice from the groom’s mother to hug your children today and make amends with everyone now is exactly right. Praying for everyone involved, may the Lord bless them and have mercy on them and may He reunite them all together with him in Heaven forever.

Back 40 years ago in MN it was a tradition to race around reckless after a wedding.
Probably still exists in parts of the Country.

I got married in front of a j.p.

Must be why the a/c conked out and my father in law didn’t get out of his wheelchair to dance with my bride.

I wish everyone who viciously attacked VietVet had paused to think. Hieronymus gave a very considerate response. Don’t
jump on the bandwagon of hate people.. Don’t become like the Left.

Thanks, DMT.

I didn’t read too much into the thread, as I’m supposed to be accomplishing something at work today (the joys of being salaried). That said, while I wouldn’t want to be the lightning rod, VV drew attention to something that is worth thinking about, and a quick glance shows that at least some thinking is happening on this thread. That can’t be said of every thread.

"Get married in a church in front of God."

God is always there with you because your heart is your true church. I am sure that their marriage, rather than living together as many young ones currently do, met God's approval.

You’re wrong. It will last forever in Eternity.

Simply put, such a glib condemnation is not a Christian value.

It doesn’t mean that Christians are above that sort of thing. They’re not, because they’re sinners like everybody else.

But, when they’re called out on such a lack of charity, their response should be repentance.
