NASCAR bans gun ads, claims ‘gradual shift’ in its views

 “Due a gradual shift in NASCAR’s position on guns,” the sport will no longer accept ads that depict popular firearms.

K-Var and other gun retailers were approached earlier this year by National Events Publications, the media sales agent for NASCAR, and asked to buy advertising with the sport, K-Var reports.

K-Var and others submitted their ads. Four months later, National Events Publications sent the following message to K-Var:

We just heard from NASCAR on a number of gun related ads and unfortunately, due a gradual shift in NASCAR’s position on guns, these ads must be edited/changed—especially those that are depicted as assault-style rifles/sniper rifles. NASCAR is still open to some of the less controversial gun accessories, concealed carry, or classes.

“NASCAR has allowed ads from firearms manufacturers for several years,” K-Var reports. “AK-47s, AR-15s, and scoped rifles have all been featured in the past, so I guess, by that statement, it can only mean that NASCAR is marching toward a complete anti-gun stance—it is just slow rolling it for some reason.”

It’s the latest move by corporate America to ignore their customer base and pander to a radicalized minority.

WASHINGTON — Federal prosecutors in Washington appear to be in the final stages of deciding whether to indict Andrew G. McCabe, the former deputy F.B.I. director and a frequent target of President Trump, on charges of lying to federal agents, according to interviews with people familiar with recent developments in the investigation.

In two meetings last week, Mr. McCabe’s lawyers met with the deputy attorney general, Jeffrey A. Rosen, who is expected to be involved in the decision about whether to prosecute, and for more than an hour with the United States attorney for the District of Columbia, Jessie K. Liu, according to a person familiar with the meetings. The person would not detail the discussions, but defense lawyers typically meet with top law enforcement officials to try to persuade them not to indict their client if they failed to get line prosecutors to drop the case.

An indictment of a former top F.B.I. official is extremely rare and would be the latest chapter in the saga of Mr. McCabe, who was fired last year over the issue now under criminal investigation — whether he failed to be forthcoming with internal investigators examining the F.B.I.’s dealings with the news media.

An indictment would be certain to draw praise from Mr. Trump, who has made his attacks on Mr. McCabe a centerpiece of his yearslong campaign to discredit the Justice Department and the F.B.I. over the Russia investigation.

Yup - it took about 15 days to indict Manafort, about 15 months for McCabe (if it really ever happens). Yup - the Just Us Department hates that blind lady holding the scales.
