‘Breaking Bad’ Movie, Starring Aaron Paul, Coming to Netflix in October
NY Times ^ | 08/24/2019 | Dave Itzkoff

Nearly six years ago, viewers of “Breaking Bad” watched the final episode of that series, in which the drug kingpin Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) emerged from hiding and sacrificed his life to rescue his one-time partner, Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) from an Aryan Brotherhood gang. When White expired in a meth lab and the credits rolled, audiences believed it might be the last time they would see many of these characters.

But it turns out the story of “Breaking Bad” isn’t quite finished.

Netflix announced on Saturday that it will release a new “Breaking Bad” movie that will center on Pinkman, the excitable meth cook played by Paul, who was last seen in the TV series speeding off in a stolen Chevrolet El Camino to parts unknown.

The film, called “El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie,” was written and directed by Vince Gilligan, the creator of “Breaking Bad,” and will be released on Netflix on Oct. 11. The film is also expected to be broadcast at a later date on AMC, the cable network where the TV series was originally shown from 2008 to 2013.

“It’s a chapter of ‘Breaking Bad’ that I didn’t realize that I wanted,” Paul said in an interview. “And now that I have it, I’m so happy that it’s there.”

Netflix provided only the briefest plot summary of “El Camino,” which states, “In the wake of his dramatic escape from captivity, Jesse must come to terms with his past in order to forge some kind of future.”

Paul said in the interview that he was forbidden from revealing anything more about what happens in the film. But, like the show’s fans, he said he also believed he had said goodbye to the world of “Breaking Bad” when the TV series concluded.

Boy. That sounds like a real uplifting show. Next time I’m depressed I’ll tune in for inspiration.

“Please FReepers, keep your ‘Muh, boycotting Netflix... ‘cause Obama be on there and s—t’ statements to yourselves.”

Nope. Not giving them my money.

BTW anything on Netflix can be viewed using KODI.

As long as Hollywood engages in anti-Christian, anti-conservative bigotry, many will choose to disregard their intellectual property claims.

If they ever charge these offshore “thieves” with stealing their content, they’re not going to want someone like me on the jury.

I left Netflix when one of the shows they produced decided to have a character ( a hero, at that) curse God using the f-bomb.

I left Amazon prime for the same reason (though they were only syndicating the show).

The final straw for me though was when the big players in Hollywood sued Vidangel to prevent them from offering edited versions of Hollywood films where things like cursing, nudity, etc, can be selectively removed. A lot of parents used that service to help remove some of the more objectionable, non-family-friendly content from otherwise good shows.

Maybe I’ll watch this film without paying for it. I think that is what Jessie would do.

“Leave Walter White alone!”

Walter White: “Your trying to protect me? You don’t need to worry about me, sweetheart. I am the danger!”

BB was Vince Gilligan learning to be a master story teller.

BCS is Vince Gilligan showing off what he’s learned.

Since Gilligan is producing and writing the film, it stands to fare better than the godawful wrap-up film they made for HBO’s “Deadwood,” which was another stellar TV series.

LOL. Agreed. Looking forward to some more work by Vince. Breaking Bad was well done and we will see how he does with this sequel of sorts in movie form.

From the trailer:

"I've seen that little cage of his they kept him in. I heard about what all they did to him to make him keep cooking."

Doesn't sound like Jesse's life has exactly taken a turn for the better after the end of "Breaking Bad".

Breaking Bad is the 21st Century's answer to MacBeth and the morality play of the century.

It's that good.

I was very sorry it ended.

The complexity of the show was amazing.

I had watched it years ago when I first got Netflix

I was taken by the time period looking at the items that were at one time in my parents and grandparents and neighbors and relatives homes.

this time I followed the storyline closely, repeating scenes at times to make sure I understood them.

Using closed caption at times to make sure I didn’t miss any dialog.

I found the writing amazing and the acting very good.

Exactly. Same with The Sopranos when Carmela confesses to the priest that she’s a phoney because she loves all the benefits and riches that come from their criminality.

Also, since I went Keto and started using some Stevia, I think of Lydia from time to time.

Without Walter White’s character its just a drug-crime drama.

I always thought Pinkman was the weak - dunsky character who brought trouble. He was not the hero.

They need WW!

The books are infinitely better than the show, IMHO. The sad part is that
Martin let the producers write the last two seasons, which they screwed
up. 'Breaking Bad' is my favorite show on TV, followed closely by the
'Sopranos'.

And yes if those thieves are ever tried they’d have a like minded accomplice on the jury. No different from sneaking into the movie theater.

Beautiful demonstration of Christian values, by the way. Sort of an outrage tantrum.

[Aaron Paul really hasn’t done much since “Breaking Bad” wrapped up. As far as I know, he had only one movie in which he starred, and it was a dud.]

He really struck lotto when he got the lead for the series. He doesn’t have leading man looks and isn’t exactly charismatic.

“He did a show called The Path for Hulu and will be on Westworld next season.”

Good to know he has work. I can’t decide between Hulu and Netflix for when I get rid of cable. Hulu has most of the channels I watch, but I wouldn’t save much. Netlix has tons of original programming and, even though I don’t want to do anything to support the Obamas, it would cost me less, and I can avoid any programs in which the Obamas are involved.

As for Westworld, I watched the first season and didn’t like it at all. I dumped HBO a while ago, because I didn’t care for most of their stuff.

I hope Mr. Paul does well. If there’s a reason why I shouldn’t, I’m not aware of it yet.

Hulu is better if you like a lot of network shows. Netflix has only a couple of shows left that I like. That’s a good point about the Obamas.
