Hip surgery in May slowed down former President Jimmy Carter – just a bit.
But a bum hip has nothing to do with the hand he uses to hammer, and that means — for the 36th consecutive year — the former president and his wife Rosalynn are scheduled to build houses for Habitat for Humanity.
From Oct. 6-11, the Carters will be in Nashville, helping to construct 21 homes. Add that to the more than 4,300 they have helped build in 14 countries since 1984.
“There have been many times when people have tried to count President Carter out, and they have never been right,” said Bryan Thomas, a spokesman for Habitat for Humanity International. “We are excited that they will both back.”

I give him credit for this, but its about the only useful thing he did.
And he does not see the light even now- I heard one woman (who was getting a FREE HOUSE) say “I’m here to put in my 50 hours” (to get the house you have to work a minimum # of hours- i think it’s 50)
Hope he gets to complete a home before the scumbags steal all the copper plumbing.

I haven’t heard about Habitat in years. When they started, they would just give people houses with predictable results. Residents would treat the houses as if they were disposable. So Habitat invoked rules when the recipient had to maintain the house to get it. So Habitat ended up with a surplus of houses as there was a shortage of those who would agree to maintain the houses. In dome areas Habitat stopped building completely.
He helped build some homes here in the early 80’s and he looked old back then
He picked up a hammer and immediately tried to drill a hole with it.

Applause to the old basturd for habitat houses. But it can’t even begin to make up for all the damage he inflicted on America during his time in office. Perhaps he could atone in some larger more significant ways?
No of course he’s not all bad.
He was a terrible president and his views on some issues are bizarre. But he’s doing some good works with Habitat.
