I got one of those calls. I immediately knew it was a scam because it was from “The Department of Social Security”.
I guess they think it gives them some protection by not using the correct name.
Had my second notice call yesterday. Never respond to unsolicited calls
The reputedly stolen SS used by Obama is supposedly available on the internet. I will look for it an inform anybody who calls that is my legitimate number.
It has been hitting us sometimes several times in a day.
I always answer unknown calls by saying “Thank you for calling the Consumer Fraud Enforcement Division, may I help you?”
Notification of stuff like that is ALWAYS by mail
I have had 2 in-state, different exchange calls in the last 2 days. If I don’t recognize the number, I don’t answer on my cellular. If it is important, they will leave a voicemail.
Several states are meeting with several major cellular carriers to try to figure out a way to combat robocalls. I don’t expect much to come from the meeting.
I use Tracfone and they have a caller-ID program: CallDetector. Most major carriers already have similar programs. The programs work so-so.
A good friend of mine received one of these calls recently.
She’s the District Manager of the local Social Security office.
I hear the conversation was interesting.
already received three of these calls! ARGGGGggg..
My wife and I get this call all the time....must have blocked it 15 times!!!!
I got one that said theyd deactivated my SSN due to fraudulent activity. Yeah, okay.
Give them the phone number of the nigerian princes’ scams.
