Has our society hardened everybody so much that love and intimacy are not wanted? Sex without the connection of intimacy (and, yes, marriage) is bereft of meaning and just animal. A hollow shell of what God made us.

I agree. I think we can see a connection between our society’s sexual derangement and our society’s problems with food. Both appetites have, in many cases, been made the sole purpose of existence for people, with very damaging outcomes.

Consider someone like the late Mr. Epstein with his exploitation of early-teen girls. He was a rich man and could have had sex with plenty of adult women. Why take the risks he did? Presumably for the thrill. In the same way, there is plenty of delicious and safe food in the world. Why do some take the mortal risk of consuming pufferfish?
