A Texas girl sitting in her home was killed Wednesday when an amateur rapper who felt disrespected by a rival’s lyrics allegedly opened fire and targeted the wrong apartment, say police.
Brandoniya Bennett, 9, was on her couch after getting her nails done in preparation for the first day of school when shots rang out in the Roseland Townhomes in Dallas.
A man later identified as Tyrese Simmons, 19, had gone to the apartment complex to confront an apparent rival, and allegedly shot at the wrong home, the Dallas Police Department says in a statement obtained by PEOPLE.

I was thinking the same thing. It’s time to bring back public hangings once a month in every town and city if they have someone on death row and to shorten the appeals process down to 2 years max. I’d say one year but the courts move so slow.

When I read this stodgy, I was wondering what happened to that Dallas area cop that went home from work to the wrong apartment and shot the resident thinking he was an intruder.
If we only had more gun laws this would not have happened.
Seems like a huge amount of this violence can be tied back to social media, so, um, what is going to be done about it?

I think with the downsizing and demise of most city newspapers, these stories simply get uploaded online now.
Most of the incidents we would never hear about, and would be viewed as ‘Local News’. The old Newspaper motto: “If it bleeds, it leads.” remains true to this day.
Online News sites are now hungry for more clicks from we viewers. The more clicks from us, means the News Sites can charge more to advertisers.
