Hollywood Actor Peter Fonda Dead at 79

On Friday, the family of 79-year-old Hollywood actor Peter Fonda announced that he had died.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Peter Fonda has passed away,” the family told People Magazine Friday afternoon. “[Peter] passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 16 at 11:05 a.m. at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by family. The official cause of death was respiratory failure due to lung cancer.”

“In one of the saddest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts. As we grieve, we ask that you respect our privacy,” they wrote, "and, while we mourn the loss of this sweet and gracious man, we also wish for all to celebrate his indomitable spirit and love of life. In honor of Peter, please raise a glass to freedom.”

I liked the ‘68 Charger he drove in “Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry”
I had a 68 Charger. Not an RT, the only modification was a low res exhaust and for a 318 it hauled ass! I still cringe when I see movies that used Chargers, in most of them they would get wrecked. Ironically the ONLY movie I recall where a 68 wasn't trashed was the RT Arnold's friend drove in Christine. Unfortunately they wrecked a few 57 Plymouths to make that movie.

I did not enjoy Easy Rider when I saw it in 1969.

I have never changed my mind since then, even after watching it a couple more times as I got older.

I think the most important part of any really good movie is that you have to care about what happens to the main characters - and I did not care.

I had shoulder length hair and smoked marijuana in those days, too, so I had no anti-Hippy bias at all.

Of course, even with the long hair and the reefer, I was always a Goldwater Conservative, always had a good work ethic, and I was never anti-Vietnam War.
