Hollywood Actor Peter Fonda Dead at 79

01:22 17.08.2019(updated 01:26 17.08.2019)

On Friday, the family of 79-year-old Hollywood actor Peter Fonda announced that he had died.

“It is with deep sorrow that we share the news that Peter Fonda has passed away,” the family told People Magazine Friday afternoon. “[Peter] passed away peacefully on Friday morning, August 16 at 11:05 a.m. at his home in Los Angeles surrounded by family. The official cause of death was respiratory failure due to lung cancer.”

“In one of the saddest moments of our lives, we are not able to find the appropriate words to express the pain in our hearts. As we grieve, we ask that you respect our privacy,” they wrote, "and, while we mourn the loss of this sweet and gracious man, we also wish for all to celebrate his indomitable spirit and love of life. In honor of Peter, please raise a glass to freedom.”

Am I the first guy to point out that Bridget Fonda was not in Pulp Fiction?

I definitely agree that she was a very attractive young woman.

By the way, Wiki says that Bridget Fonda was one of the uncredited children in the hippie commune in Easy Rider.

You may be correct. I was thinking it had the 4 red circular taillights which would have made it a ‘68. I had the movie but don’t know if I still have it. It may have had the long red plastic of a ‘69 or ‘70.

Thanks for the correction.

Yep, that is NOT a ‘68. I always have a thing for the ‘68. but the 69 would be my next fav and then the 70 (slightly different on the front, IIRC).

Oh, yes. What a “sweet and gracious man” he was - particularly when he suggested last year that Barron Trump be placed “in a cage with pedophiles.”

Good riddance to this leftist piece of human garbage.

><

Damned right. One less POS.

"Who liked “Easy Rider”?"

The premise/plot of the movie was reprehensible, but I enjoyed the music and the supporting role played by Jack Nicholson (Indians!). The thing about the movie that stood out however was the cinematography of America. That inspired my Jack Kerouac urge to see and experience America.

The mere fact this guy is Hanoi Jane’s brother is enough for me to wish him the best of luck in Hell. Maybe he can be on one of the upper layers selling ice.

There's a Boondock Saints 2? How did I miss that one. I liked the first one.

I just took a piss, I flushed in memory.

Can’t wait for Jane to go. I’m gonna hold a dump in all day for that one.

August 16th is a dangerous day for celebrities.

Elvis, Babe Ruth, Aretha Franklin, Peter Fonda...all of them died on August 16th.

Poor Pete, well he probably had been a heavy smoker. While I decry Pete’s leftist drivel there were a few movies I liked him in. He was in a lot of stuff in the 1960’s and 70’s, most of it a lot of crap.

I think he could have been a really good actor if he had taken himself a little more seriously.

I give him credit for making one film that seemed to be a metaphor for the times and that was “Easy Rider”. He made a fortune off that one movie. I saw a interview with him once about that film and he said he paid for a lot of that film charging a lot of the production cost on his Diner’s Club card, about $350,000. They should have done a commercial with him on that one.

Well Pete God Speed and thanks for the memories.
