ROCHESTER, N.Y. - An airport security screener was fired after handing a traveler a note with a rude message scrawled on it.
Neal Strassner was going through the Greater Rochester International Airport when the security guard handed him a torn piece of paper with the words “you ugly” written on it.
"I got handed something. I really didn't look at the thing, I kept going,” Strassner told WHAM. "She called back to me a few times, asked me if I was going to read the note or open it or something. I look at it, look at her and kind of shrug my shoulders ... and she laughed."
The incident took place in late June. Strassner waited more than a month for the video after filing a Freedom of Information request for it, WROC reported.
The employee works for VMD Corp. a security company based in Virginia, contracted through the TSA. VMD did not comment. TSA confirmed the employee was fired, WROC reported.

I had an idea what the screener looked like considering that the note was written in ebonics. I wonder what possessed her to tear off a piece of a tissue box and write that note? The guy wasn’t even particularly ugly. He looked kinda like Quentin Tarantino, but better looking than him. And the screener was certainly no prize. Weird story.
she coulda just been trying to lighten the mood- but perhaps not-

But as strange as the story is it looks like she was joking around with him, and she didn’t deserve to lose her job over whatever it was.
true but- as hte old saying goes- “If i didn’t pick on them, they would think i was mad at em’- some people just have a different sense of humor- they think it’s funny- but others take that kind of humor the wrong way-
By the looks of the box she was tearing pieces from, it appears that she’s done it in the past, and was getting ready to do it again. The company must have very low standards when it comes to hiring. And I’m sure, instead of her unprofessional behavior, she’s blaming the white guy for being fired.

Firing the screener was the right thing to do. That kind of nasty behavior cannot be tolerated.
Being so nasty to a passenger puts a bad light on all screeners and the whole process.
Screeners need to be as nice as possible to the passengers, while doing their job.
If so, I don't really get the joke. And if he'd joked about anything regarding airline safety he'd be getting the rubber glove prostate exam.
She's there for security purposes, not to flirt. She can do that on her own time. The fact that she'd hand anyone anything they didn't bring through security with them violates the rules, and perhaps the law.
it;s just a weird way of joking- saying the opposite to get people to smile- but the other person has to have a similar sense of humor- otherwise they take offense when none is meant-
I guess I’d rather get that note than pulled out of line and felt up.
exactly- that was my impression- they ‘pick on’ the ones they like- trying to get them to laugh-
She coudla said it maliciously- but i suspect she did like you said-
Give her a note saying ‘You illiterate’, but that would probably get him arrested.
