That’s the only one I havn’ t read. It had a long waiting list at library when I had reading time. I have/had most of them. Started reading them after reading the Micham books : Centenial was my favorite. THom is much easier reading. More than one morning I realized the sun was rising and I was still reading. Just couldn’t put it down.

On Friday, the 1st District Court of Appeal in San Francisco overturned that conviction because the judge failed to give the jury the option of acquitting Garcia-Zarate on the theory he only possessed the weapon for a moment.
Garcia-Zarate remains in custody and is facing federal charges of gun possession and being in the country illegally. His attorney, Tony Serra, told The Associated Press that trial is scheduled to begin Jan. 13 and added that the appeals court reversal will give state prosecutors the option to re-try Garcia-Zarate.

In case you don’t remember, Kate Steinle’s killer had an immigration hold in San Bernardino -SoCal, Inland Empire. San Francisco knew he was to be deported & asked that he be sent to SF on an old pot charge. They did this for the sole reason of dismissing the pot charge & releasing him so as not to be deported.

Seems like this outcome was predetermined, for the appeal.
As I recall, this was not the first time he had been in “possession” of a gun.
No American would have received the legal defense this cretin did. And for free.
I am surprised the court did not rule that Steinle’s family should pay him damages /s.

The sad thing is, our school systems, from K- college, are teaching our kids to demand everything in column 1.
