A praying mantis ensured there were no flies on commuters as it hopped aboard a New York Subway train Tuesday and caused quite a stir.
City Councilman Keith Powers was traveling Uptown on the 6 train, when another rider told him that his head was dangerously close to the long-legged insect.
He snapped a picture of the mantis as it clung onto the metal inner frame of the subway cart and stared at passengers.
Captured in its synonymous 'praying pose,' the bug seemed unfazed by worried people around it all eyeing up its sizable green and brown torso and black eyes.

Let’s see. Folks disrespecting police, a high crime rate, illegal drugs and illegals flooding into the city and given refuge don’t bother folks but a preying mantis scares the hell out of them....really?
One day I climbed a ladder to clean out my gutters and came face to face with a mantis eating a stink bug. Blech!
I just spent several minutes trying to access an old Photobucket account, to no avail. I have a really cool picture of a praying mantis looking right at me as I took her picture. Yes, it was a she.
But they’ll sit in a subway car, across from a doped up guy, p*ssing himself and not blink an eye.
There it is! I scrolled down looking for a pic.
That movie scared the h@ll out of me when I was a kid.
It terrorized them by. . . . Staring at them?

Unlike walkingsticks (which some people are afraid of) they fly . . . usually right onto you. And they bite.

As a youngster in Queens, NY I found one of those. I knew it was some kind of bug nursery but didn’t know what. Threw it on a small pile of rocks where it sat for the winter. Next spring Dad was in the back yard and called me out. Hundreds of little squirmy things were wriggling out. After a bit we saw they were mantis.

Everything “terrorizes” libs and millennials.
They certainly not hiring people with good word skills. The word they wanted is either aptonymous or eponymous.
I used to buy-in boxed chrysalis by the dozens and let them hatch in the GHs, and we had hundreds of our own in the growing fields. Stopped using chemicals and saved a bundle, plus avoided groundwater pollution.
I think they may have hired my old Kraut buddy Otto Kor Wrecked...
