A new survey has found that Native Americans are more likely to be proud than offended by the name of the Washington Redskins.
The survey, as reported by the Washington Post, asked 500 people who identify as Native American to pick from a list of words which one best described their feelings about the Redskins name. The word most picked was proud. Following proud came indifferent, annoyed, content, satisfied and disappointed.

Identify as Native Americans.
Did they ask Elizabeth Warren?
It’s the Woke White Liberal that assumes the authority to be offended on the behalf of others who are not offended.
Nothing more slimy than the White Liberal.
Because all the fuss is designed to bring Whitey to his knees in a fit of guilt.
Since most here on FR no longer care about the NFL I hope they change it and then all the other remaining native team names in pro sports. After all a name change has done wonders for the Wizards. /sarc

This doesnt surprise me. My best friend in high school was Native American. When liberals were raising a stink over the Braves name (late 80s, early 90s), she thought the name was cool - after all Braves are warriors.
And that was the original intent and concept, it was actually designed to respect the courage of the culture. Tell you what, once all references that remind us of native Americans is gone, their history and culture will be forgotten and rendered totally insignificant. This trend is self defeating.
I suspect many of us still care but we changed our football engagement. For example, I've read that such "woke" people follow and watch their favorite team but they do NOT watch other games. They don't go to games nor do they buy as many shirts or merchandise. Sundays are spent on their family with the game as a part of the day vs the focal point.
Of course many people have totally gone Galt with the NFL. Overall attendance in 2017 and 2018 is down from the 2016 and 2015 numbers. TV viewership is generally down but that can also be due to people switching to streaming/substitutes. Ultimately, seventeen million+ people are still going to games. I suspect those people who've permanently checked out, while meaningful, aren't as yuge as we think, notwithstanding the half a dozen or so people who are about to reply that they've totally abandoned the NFL and burned their jersey etc.
The only one who cares are the white liberal progressives who are out to save the indigenous peoples
I like that the military named helicopter models after Indian tribes.
All these places, teams etc etc that adopted Indian names was to preserve their heritage.
People really have no idea how many places in America are named after Indians or are names from Indian languages.
From states down to parks and streets.
Warriors respect and appreciate other warrior cultures. Historically, some Native American tribes were the most formidable warrior cultures in the world aside from the Spartans and the Mongols primarily based on courage.
Some like the Chickasaw were never defeated in battle, but because we do not hear their tribe mentioned much we would never know this, this fact has now been forgotten because there are no current everyday references or reminders of it.
The Snarling Crackers?
Oh I agree with what you say. Its hard to go cold turkey on stuff one has followed for so long. In my case I was at best only a casual fan and since I live in Toronto there is no local team unless one counts the Buffalo Bills and I was never a big fan of them. At best I watched a few games and maybe some of the playoffs and Super Bowl. I am down to only watching little bits of the Super Bowl now and even that is on thin ice. Its not just the NFL though its all tv sports. This year the Raptors won the NBA title. If this had happened 20 years ago I would have been glued to the tv watching the games. This year I watched none of the games and only saw highlight clips. Happy they won but thats it.
I care very little about the NFL...I love college football....
