The Weekly Gardening Thread is a weekly gathering of folks that love soil, seeds and plants of all kinds. From complete newbies that are looking to start that first potted plant, to gardeners with some acreage, to Master Gardener level and beyond, we would love to hear from you.
If you have specific question about a plant/problem you are having, please remember to state the Growing Zone where you are located.
This thread is non-political, although you will find that most here are conservative folks. No matter what, you wont be flamed and the only dumb question is the one that isnt asked.
It is impossible to hijack the Weekly Gardening Thread. Planting, Harvest to Table Recipes, Preserving, Good Living - there is no telling where it will go and... that is part of the fun and interest. Jump in and join us! Send a Private Message to Diana in Wisconsin if you'd like to be added to our New & Improved Ping List.
NOTE: This is a once a week Ping List. We do post to the thread during the week. Links to related articles and discussions which might be of interest to Gardeners are welcomed any time!
The green is a pole bean, 'Seychelles' and the purple is 'Velour' which is a bush bean. Both from Jung Seed. I'm keeping a handful or two to cook up for supper...with BACON, the way my Grandma Anita used to make them. Happy, Happy!
She looks deadly! Ouch! You are definitely our Go-To Guy for hot peppers and all they entail, that’s for sure. :)
I don’t have a pressure canner or a juicer. Can I just blend it in a Smoothie maker and store it in the fridge or is there some sort of disease threat? It sounds delicious but I don’t want to get botulism because I didn’t process it.
This is the Copycat V8 recipe I was referring to in case you didn't know which post I was writing about.
Do you oven roast the zucchini on a cookie sheet after you’ve mandolined it? We used to peel and quarter the zucchini lengthwise, toss it in olive oil, onion, garlic and every seasoning that you like, and grill it. That’s one of my favorite ways to prepare it.
Well how handy is THAT? Thanks! Here are my two faves for weather-watching:

Thanks. I had the second, but the first is good for wind and for dates, supplementary to https://www.wunderground.com/wundermap
As long as you keep it refrigerated, all should be fine. I doubled the recipe so I made 4 quarts, but a single batch will make you 2 quarts.
And guess what? There was just enough left for a Happy Hour Bloody Mary. Funny how that always seems to happen with that particular recipe, LOL!
I just added Fourth of July and German Johnson(not hybrid) seeds to my list so I don’t forget them.
I just canned dill chips the other day.
Yes......I roast “planks” of seasoned zucchini on a sheetpan for that recipe...drizzled with ol/oil.
If you are drying them whole try poking some holes with toothpicks in them. They will dry better.
Beautiful pics!!!!!
Thank you for that advice!! Appreciate it!
After another week of hot dry weather here in Central Missouri we finally got a bit of rainfall over the weekend.
My tomato plants have snapped out of whatever funk they were in and are now producing nicely. Mrs. Augie has been busy making pickles.
I got the aeration system installed in the pond. Still have some fine tuning to do on that, but the basics are in place.
Tom: I moved this to the current week’s discussion for you!

Nice! I’ve been meaning to grow those long beans; next year?
They are really good, I can’t always find seeds and am too lazy to save or order any. Easy to pick, they do need a piece of fencing to go up.
