Twitter’s initial decision to suspend the official campaign account of Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) caused a massive boycott of the site’s advertising platform from the GOP.
After the senator told a radio station that the GOP was “in a major war with [Twitter],” the company backed down and restored Team Mitch’s account. Team Mitch tweeted out “Victory!” at noon on August 9 with a funny GIF of McConnell’s head on the body of the character who escaped prison in Shawshank Redemption.
Twitter stated that its staff still believed that the tweet in question violated the rules. “The video contained a violent threat directed at Leader McConnell, a clear violation of the Twitter Rules.” After “reviewing the case more closely,” Twitter decided to leave the video up, but “with a sensitive media interstitial and only in cases where the Tweet content does not otherwise violate the Twitter Rules.”
So the video will still be censored by Twitter. The only thing that changed is that Team Mitch will not be suspended for posting it.
The Republican Senate came out in full force in support of McConnell today. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) said in an interview with Pete Mundo “The idea that Twitter would censor and punish Mitch McConnell for a bunch of threats that a bunch of liberal wackos made against his life... I mean, it's really extraordinary stuff."
But if you’re a poor unknown, they will squash you and your business like a bug.
Color me skeptical.
I’d like to be setting the bar for victory higher than them acting reasonable for a news cycle.
Yeah, well, McConnell has been great at getting Trump’s judges confirmed.
Restoring McConnell’s account is not good enough. Twitter must be fined/punished somehow for even suspending the account when all he was pointing out was that someone was threatening him. They must be punished for doing that. It was intentional.
What’s that got to do with this article at all??

McConell is FAR from perfect, but he’s certainly not the worst of the bunch and you’re right about the judges

Damn right they will. Your account just sits there like a corpse. Your tweets go nowhere.
I would rather let Twitter bury themselves. Punishing them would correct their “ways” that are noticeable by large numbers of people.
This was another test run. Wait till the election year comes around and all of them start blocking and banning conservative voices. If democrats get into power then they have no worries.

Would Twitter have banned the account if the same video had been posted by the Antifa thugs bragging about their threat against McConnell?
Exactly. Karabuki theatre. Camped outside his house. Mitch under siege. And now he wins the great Twitter battle due to a video of one of the play actors..... oops..... protestors. The proof will be in gun control. They are setting us up to rally behind Mitch the Backstabber.
