Fifteen years ago Thursday, a Dave Matthews Band tour bus infamously dumped 800 pounds of human waste on a hapless river cruise floating at exactly the wrong time under the Kinzie Street Bridge.
Boat passengers including a Chicago Tribune reporter enjoying an open air architectural river cruise described a downpour of foul-smelling, brownish-yellow slurry that ruined their clothes and made several of them sick, on the afternoon of Aug. 8, 2004, the Tribune reported.

Do tour buses normally have 800 lb sewage tanks? That’s 80 gallons, full up to the top.
Crappy Anniversary.
some people did something and we all were starting to be covered in poo.
I work about 2 blocks from that bridge. The tour boats now turn around just before it.
Coincidence? I think not.

Well, that’s not as bad as the load of poop that democrats dump on Americans every day.
Thats 80 gallons, full up to the top.
I’m thinking water weighs 8.34 pounds/gallon.
Some float, some sink, therefore, the average weight~ 8.34/gallon and round numbers are simpler.
A ONE HUNDRED GALLON tank?
The tour boats now turn around just before it.
Good to know!
My wife likes to take visitors on the architecture tour.
I can tell her it is safer now.
That’s an anniversary of an event a lot of people could get behind.
Who’s Dave Matthews?
Whos Dave Matthews?
In this case there two with that name.
The author of the article and some jamoke that parked his tour bus on a bridge for a bit of illegal dumping.
There ain’t no good guy
There ain’t no bad guy
There’s only you and me
And we just disagree...
Dave Matthews was some bumblefoot alt-folk rocker of the same ilk as Blink-182, The Wallflowers, Soundgarden, Creed, Smashing Pumpkins, Spin Doctors, The Cranberries, Weezer, Sheryl Crow, Beck, and all those other post-Nirvana pseudo-hippies who wanted to make you kill yourself so your inner ears would stop itching. At least Cobain was morose enough to chew on the end of a Remington and put himself out of our misery. It was the soundtrack of the Clinton era, and the beginning of the downfall of American culture. Never was I more miserable. As cartoonish as the 80’s were, the 90’s were like getting cast into the most depressing, bleak pit of existential hell. I want them all dead and their culture erased from American history. God, what miserable human beings.
Dave Matthews performs some of the most boring music I have heard in my life. It’s like Grateful Dead, but on Xanex.
That’s my take. I know people who are fascinated by his group and own most of the collection.
Neil Diamond had a similar cult like following for a very long time. If you were not already a part of it, you ‘just wouldn’t understand!’.
Tell us how you really feel. Just kidding.
“...all those other post-Nirvana pseudo-hippies.” You are a good writer.
All rock and roll is ephemeral and temporary. Funny how tattoos, smokey bars, hip clothes and smooth music do more than just put a person in a good mood. They put a person in an identity that smothers their prudence. Sign: Dave Mathews selfishly dumps restroom materials and Cobain selfishly ended his life. Blink 182 seem to have forgotten how to be happy.
Sid and Nancy (1986) is still a good movie that shows the emptiness of a selfish rock and roll life.
That, sir, was well done.
But I’ll have you know ... that was my soundtrack.
That is a larger "black water" tank, but certainly possible for a luxury tour bus or large RV.
It was probably very near to completely full, which is why the driver thought he had to dump it.
