Latest Apple iPhones have smart capabilities that register their batteries to the electronics of the device requiring a replacement battery to be also registered to the iPhone to be able to report the battery health. A replacement battery will still work fine, but it will not be able to work with Apples built-in battery health check software and will not authenticate the battery, even a genuine Apple replacement battery, unless it was installed by Apple or an Apple Authorized Repair Facility. Users will not be notified of battery health on an unregistered battery, even though that battery will work fine throughout its normal life span. Some users are calling foul claiming this is an attempt by Apple to force users to only use Apple service departments to replace batteries. However, users are free to use third-party battery replacement so long as they understand such batteries will not be registered internally with the device. PING!
