Xavier University of Louisiana has been named the unhappiest university campus in America, keeping the unwanted title for a second consecutive year.
The liberal arts college in New Orleans, which describes itself as the only historically black and Catholic college in the United States, came top of the Princeton University Rankings 'Least Happy Students' table for 2020.
The table ranks universities by students' responses to the statement: 'I am happy at my school'.
The more students strongly disagree with the statement, the lower the university is ranked.
Simmons University in Boston was second in the unhappiness table, followed by Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.

If I attended college in dumps like Jamaica, NY and East Orange, NJ I would be unhappy too. I surprised Annapolis made the list. One would think the Middies would know they were getting into. Simmons is a womens college in Boston. So I guess having no men around would make up unhappy too. What is up with UT-Knoxville?
Football is down at UT right now.
Oh, wrong Xavier...
How about a list of the most happy college campuses?
Annapolis is fourth?
Damnit.
What do they have to be unhappy about?
Oh.
Yeah.
Theyre not Army.
When I went to Tulane, the campus wasn’t very happy... but the bars that surrounded the campus were VERY happy.
All these years later New Orleans is still struggling to recover from Katrina. I’m sure that makes being a student there a less than happy experience.
I have a friend whose son turned down a lucrative scholarship at Tulane because the town was still more or less in disaster mode.
I don’t give a crap at all how happy they are.
Tell me how long engine life is in motors their mechanical engineers design.
How long does it take to construct buildings their architects design, what is the cost per square foot, and will they still be standing without requiring renovation sixty years from now.
How good are their doctors?
I want graduates who perform difficult mental tasks well. I don’t care if they are happy, sad, or freaking head over heels in love. Their emotional state is of no interest to me.

If i lived in swampland I wouldn’t be happy either.
They hate being called “Middies”.

This was from August 2017 ( this should not change by much today ):

You are not supposed to be happy at the academy...it’s like four years of boot camp...with calculus!
If you look at the alumni magazine articles you would think that the place is half female with a large mix of minorities, but if you look at the class sections you see the overwhelming majority are white guys. So how would you feel if your school was actively trying to minimize your contributions and presence?
Two of my kids went to #7 Colby. Its way up in Maine in an old mill town but its a spectacular campus and the kids love it. My soon to be senior grandson is considering going there.
To all the brave and noble graduates of The United States Naval Academy:
I must go down to the seas again
To the sea and the lonely sky
And all I ask is a tall ship
And a star to steer her by.
We agree. And on that score, Xavier does fairly well:

The town is in a bowl next to the ocean.
That’s why the biggest song about New Orleans is called “Basin Street Blues.”
