Acclaimed author and Nobel Laureate Toni Morrison has died aged 88.
A friend confirmed Morrison's passing to the Associated Press on Tuesday morning. The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear.
Morrison is best known for her novel Beloved, which won a Pulitzer Prize and the American Book Award in 1988.
The American Academy of Arts and Letters honored Morrison this spring with a gold medal for lifetime achievement in fiction.

I was supposed to as well, but I just couldn’t get through it. Back in the time of the authors you mentioned, a writer felt it was his/her duty to create a story that the reader would enjoy reading. Now authors feel that it’s the reader’s duty to figure out what they are writing.
A long time ago when I was very young I thought it must be good to be impressed and awed this wise Negro Woman. She surely must know more than I did.
Then I tried to read The Bluest Eye and realized she was a crap writer writing for effect, and basically wrote child porn among other horrors.
Today, I am so dismayed to see so many of my Conservative EffBook friends posting her death notice from HuffPo.

I had momentarily forgotten she called Bubba the Rapist the “first Black President.” She also said she felt like an American “for the first time” when the Jug-eared jackass was coronated as Emperor. She similarly lost her mind when Trump was elected.
