I was at Moonlight beach last October.Which is about 4 miles north of Encinitas. I was walking with my wife and stayed far away from the cliff. They have signs warning of slides.

The cliffs near the San Diego coastline are unstable. Beach visitors should not sit near the cliffs.

I can’t figure out if they were on top of the bluff and fell or underneath it and got buried.

Yikes.

I was under the cliff at paradise cove last weekend. But I think it’s more rock than that solid sand stuff.

I'm sure it was caused by Global Warming. They're probably hard at work right now creating legislation to prevent erosion, which is just as silly as trying to control the weather.

I lived 100 yard from the Pacific for years. Collapsing cliffsides are frequent and normal. Some homeowners on the cliff edge spent enormous amounts of money to build rock barriers to prevent erosion but they will eventually undercut and collapse. It's Real Life folks! There are natural dangers.

Simple precautions... These kinds of events are a case of when, not if they will happen.

I'm basically a risk-averse person - by my own estimation and several professional assessments. However, I do ride a motorcycle, fly acrobatics in an experimental aircraft, etc. I don't take needless/senseless risks. The rewards for the actions I take are worth the risks by my estimation. Fooling around near unstable cliffs is not a risk I would take.

Very sorry for the loss of life and injuries. Hopefully this will serve to educate people regarding the dangers these land features present.
